The hate on beats, why?

Not for 1-25 year olds. Trust me I'm relatively popular at my hs. I'm assuming you guys are 35+? It's not like we're trying to impress our parents friends.

Excuse me??? I'm 28. I hated the beats design ever since it came out. They look like something Nintendo would give away with Pokemon. Not worth much more sound, quality, nor looks wise.

Actually, a lot of people my age (19) consider Beats tacky, and they have for years. It was mostly the use of shiny plastics and stigma Beats have. The Pros and Executives aren't that bad-looking though.

I'm 33 and don't mind the way the new studios look or sound. That said, the matte black ones would be the ones I choose as I'm not flashy. They are extremely comfortable. They should be $200, IMO, but whatever people pay for them, I guess their worth.

I've actually tried some of the new matte Solo HD cans and the redone sound was actually a nice surprise. I HATED the old Solo HD, but the new ones look really good and actually sound pretty solid. Still overprice though, but I think the company has been taking steps in the right direction since they parted ways with monster.

The Beats are disliked here because they have a poor price to performance ratio. They're hated because it's cool to do so.

Why do people say that people hate on beats because its call to do so? I hate on them not to "be cool" but because I think people with them are stupid as hell.

Awesome. Good to see you judge people by their headphones.

Judging people based on what headphones they decide they enjoy is literally one of the dumbest notions I've ever heard of. That's like saying a person is stupid because they drive a certain brand of car or something. Why should anyone care? If they enjoy it, good for them, unless it hurts someone else (which wearing a brand of HEADPHONES most certainly doesn't) then you really can't complain.

Not sure you caught my sarcasm or were agreeing with me? I think it's ridiculous that some think a person is stupid because they have beats on their ears. Your car example was a good one.

Do I think older beats were overpriced compared to their performance? Of course. Do I think lesser of people who have them? Absolutely not. My cup of tea, may not be yours. If a person is happy with them, so be it. You know how I treat the "beats issue," I choose not to buy them. Easy enough.

That said, I actually really like the new studios. I do think their performance and portability is quite good. I still don't like the price, but if I had a gift card for $100 or so, I'd gladly pay around $200 for them. On my flight to Pasadena this week I saw about 5 pair of beats on my flight going and 8 coming back, of various models and I'd hate to think everyone wearing them were wondering if they were being judged by everyone on the plane. It's about personally enjoying the music. Whether it's a $5 set from Walgreens or a $1500 set, I buy based off the enjoyment I get from the music and the headphones are the vehicle to get me there.

I think far too often, here especially, the people that want to analyze the music and the ones that want to enjoy their music get all mixed up.

Maybe it has something to do with the terrible sound Beats have...

The new studios are pretty good. At least as good as the V-Moda M100 but with more features! they are overpriced but COME ON what headphone isn't? M100 is overpriced, LCD 2 is overpriced but if a person likes a certain signature and brand who are we to question it.

I know I'm in the minority, but I like the overall pkg better in the studios over m100. M100 had better build quality, better case and no battery, but the sound sig didn't do it for me. The beats had more fun sound and comfort (my two must haves) and ANC. The hiss is there for sure, but only when music is off. When it's on, it shuts off. Hard case and rechargeable battery....if it came to choosing between the two for me, I'd go studios. But I know I'm in vast minority.
