Headphones that look better than Beats?

Now, before you flame this isn't for me. However, my girlfriend is thinking about buying the Solo's and I will try my very best for her to go for other options but she loves how they look. So, what headphones under $300 or so would look better than Beats (in that consumer sort of way) while still sounding better than them? I've shown her the V-Moda lineup but apparently the Beats still look better.

Looks are incredibly subjective.  I, for one, could never make a recommendation, since I think the Beats are the ugliest cans ever made - the floats would be an improvement over that candy colored cheap plastic crap

My thoughts exactly, which is why I asked for a similar consumer-based style.

Well, V-Moda's offerings are more "bling-y". Maybe she likes the cleaner aesthetics of the Solos?

If so, how about Urbanears Plattan? Solid colours, minimalist design.

But do they sound any good though? May as well split the cost of the pro's with her and be done with it frown.gif

Edition 8 ? I haven't heard the Audio Technica ES7s before but I've heard good stuff about them. Also try the Aviators.

Thought they won't be due till Spring, you should have her check out the Monster Diamond Tears model. Its sparkly and will make her look like a STARRR :) lol

In terms of looks (and sound), I'm quite partial to DJ headphones.  They look so cool to me, and I love the sounds.  The Allen & Heath Xone: XD53 look awesome, and they sound amazing with my laptop, DJ gear, CD player, and home theater; but they don't sound good straight from an iPod (if that's what she's using).  The Pioneer HDJ-1000 look and sound just as good (but they sound good with an iPod), but they are not very sturdy.  The big complaint with the Pioneers is that they break easily.  I've read reviews of people having to replace them every few months, but I've had mine for 7 years.

Eh, sorry I haven't heard the Plattans before. Haven't heard the Solos either, so really can't comment on the sonic merits/demerits... sorry man, thought you were just looking for something that looked nice.

Oooh, too late.  I didn't like the Aviators, but I probably have dfferent taste than your woman.

I think it's just the solid/slight gloss that it has that did it. And no biggie, I just want her to be able to get something that she can enjoy wearing and listening to biggrin.gif

How about the V-Moda M-80...?  They're really really good and I think they look quite nice.  You can customize their faceplates too, which is cool (I believe they have a bunch of different colours now).

The ES7 has mirror finish and is only $99 in Australia, might want to show her those too.
