Well there are the other more superior (imho) vintage Stax Lambda's that get more right then wrong compared to the SR-507.

Definitely and I mentioned above that I do prefer my vintage Sigs to the Sr-507s but the SR-507s do have really deep extended bass.

The bass and dynamics and awesome on my SR507, must definately be on your must try list. I find them especially smooth, extended, detailed and with incredible bass. Check your source if not. HD650 sounds more brittle, that was my previous standard HP.

I picked up my old 507's this morning to do a comparison against the 207's and the claims of bass are true but it's nowhere close to real life.  Hell the 507's are just bass and treble so they sound impressive but I'd take the more balanced approach of the 207 every day.   Be careful when doing this comparison though as the there is a pronounced difference in sensitivity.

I had a similar comparison with the 507s and the vintage Lambda Sigs. I must say that the 507s have really deep bass and a lot of quantity to it. Spritz, from your enormous experience with stats, is the 507 the most bassy you've heard from a lambda phone?

Nahh, plenty of others that surpass it but most due to lousy baffle seal.  In terms of sheer bass quantity and control, the SR-007Mk1 off a T2/BHSE needs to be experienced.  Starts and stops on a dime that one...

Would anyone like to share thoughts on upgrading from Lambda Pros to 507s? I generally like the sound of my Lambdas, but the midrange seems "recessed" to me: especially compared to my SRX-MK3s. The SRX's have excellent midrange (at least on my SRM-T1), but then they get a bit strident on the high-end. The SRX's are lacking on the low-end to me; the Lambdas are "fair" on the low-end. Would the 507s "fix" the mids / vocal range, while enhancing the low-end while still not giving-up anything? Or am I hoping for too much? I can't consider anything above the 507s now; maybe someday. I'm a stat-lover (own original quads (57s) and have owned 63s as well as Quests and Requests from Martin Logan, so I do love the "stat sound" - usually driven by tubes. Any thoughts and opinions from 507 owners with SRX experience as well would be very much appreciated.

LNS or a 202/207. Haven't heard the LS but they are also well regarded for good detail retrieval. I did not like the 507.

There is set of Lambda Sigs for sale here now, and a LNS on eBay in the land down-under. Any suggestions out there for me?
Can I get improvements moving from a Lambda Pro to a LP-Sig, or LNS/202/207 or do I just add some EQ for now and start saving for the SR-007s?

Different flavours. LNS is damn neutral and is a improved low-bias Lambda. 207 is a bit brighter sounding than the 202 (typical 2/3/4/507 brightness) but has similar traits to that of the 202. 202 is really balanced sounding and fairly neutral. So no recessed treble/mids, not very bright sounding, not very bassy it is pretty close to middle. Lambda Pro is a bit laid back sounding with good detail retrieval and probably the most dynamic sounding stat in the lambda family, the bass is very close to that of a dynamic transducer. The Lambda Pro + SRM-1 MK2 is a wonderful sounding bliss combo, more so than the T1S pairing I've tried. The Lambda Pro was originally marketed with the SRM-1 MK2 or the SRD-7SB MK II energizer. I haven't heard the LP-Sig but some prefer it to the LNS, some say it is more detailed, some say it is more coloured sounding compared to the neutralness of the LNS and it is not very bassy either.
 
If you have the budget for a good amp and the 007 Mk1's, then just go for that. Or you can collect Stax like me.
