If it works on everything else, it's gonna be your 3.5 jack on your computer.  Seems kind of obvious doesn't it?  Just a compatibility issue.  It's not going to be drivers.

It turns out only itunes doesn't work with my M100 on my desktop suddenly. Everything else soundwise works like Foobar Media Player and the like.  I did further testing.  I was in a hurry this morning to get some orchard work done before the next rain hit tomorrow.  M M100 does cause a pop up on my laptop randomly and pretty often most times saying audio device connected and then disconnected.  It is only on my Dell laptop that this problem occurs.  If anybody has an M100 and a Dell laptop could you please check for this and let me know if you have this issue?

Thank you

If it's fine on your other devices, then it definitely sounds like your laptop headphone Jack is the problem, if you there is someone you know has a different pair of headphones you could try or a laptop you could try yours on, that would identify with one was at fault, your laptop or your headphones

get one of those 'finned' plastic floss things (like for your teeth) and cut the fins to fit perfectly in the jack.. ensure battery is removed and unplugged if possible (shouldn't be an issue) and spin it.. could just be some dust/dirt.

you can find what I mean by searching how to clean the jack, it works.

Okay.  Let me try to explain a little better.  Only my M100 has the problem with connecting to my laptop.  I cannot test my LPs because they no longer produce sound at all.  All of my iems work fine with my laptop.  I think it is an M100 problem.  Probably the plug that V-Moda makes doesn't work with my laptop.  The desktop computer does not play through the M100 only when using itunes.  They play with Foobar as they should and other media programs and websites.  It could be itunes related and not the computer itself.  When I try to play music through headphones on my new desktop it only plays through the computer screen speakers.  I do not have proper speakers yet.  My dad is having issues getting his discount from Dell from the purchase of the computer.  That is for another thread.  I hope this helps explain what is going on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Its probably ur laptoo. Ur other iems might just be narrow or short enough to fit

While the m100s might not work purely because of the connection issue.

Try pushing ur headphone jack in towards the laptop while listening.

And hold while listening.

U might just have a loose connection on ur laptop end from all the plugging and unplugging ( the wear and tear)

Just having one of my M100 drivers replaced as one side was cutting out, when I spoke to the repairer who incidentally is Electronic Partners in the UK, they told me that they don't or can't order V-Moda spares so they use a matching generic driver. This is Alarming to say the least, I'm waiting to get them back to test them. They said they would be very surprised if I can hear a difference between original and replacement, just interested to hear peoples thoughts on this.

On their site a lot of people have had hi-end headphones repaired and seem happy.

My surprise is they advise the driver is the failure and not just the wire's connection to the speaker being bad, which is a very common issue.  But a generic driver, could have been made with 'reverse engineering' and if so (if the engineers were good), shouldn't give you any different results in sound.

My other headphones and iems have no problems when connected to my laptop.  Only the M100 has this problem with the laptop.  I do not think the socket is loose.

Thanks

Clean out the 3.5mm side of the cable

Wipe with clean cloth, maybe some residue.

Or try a different cable ur laptop might just not be compatible to the the m100 cable.

Im seriously doubting its the driver problem from what im reading

I have tried all 4 or 5 of my V-Moda cables I have available and same thing.  1 button cable even has the same issue with an added issue.  The headphones sound horribly hollow and cavernous unless I hold down the button all of the time.  It seems to happen after using a 1 button cable for a long time in general not in 1 long session same thing with my old 3 button cable.  I don't think it is an issue of residue, but I will give it a shot and report back.  I thin it is wierd that it just started happening with my laptop toward the end of summer or early fall.  It seemed to work fine before then.  I got the laptop in April or early May at the latest.  I do not have any non V-Moda cables to try.  I also don't have any stores near me that would carry such things.  I really am not into the whole cable swapping thing honestly.  Some of that stuff gets too expensive needing more than 1 expensive cable and such.  I would rather spend my little income on daps and headphones or iems and maybe one day a reasonably priced dac or amp if I feel I need to.

Thank you for all of your help

Update- cleaned my headphone plug with a q tip and rubbing alcohol.  No problems now with the laptop and M100 connectivity.

Thank you very much again

PS I am going to clean all of my V-Moda cables now.  I don't know if they use some kind of grease or something on them when they manufacture them or what.

Update 2 just cleaned and tested 1 button cable.  It is working properly I don't need to push the button down to get proper sound.  No more hollow sound unless I hold the button down.  I cleaned all of my cables.  I should be all good now.

Thank you everyone for all of your help and my apologies if I was difficult or frustrating

Thank you kindly my friend

Cheers

Great to hear everything worked out.

U could always just spend $10-20 on a simple replacement aux 3.5mm cable. I personally dont believe in the high end cable thing myself.

I would go only aftermarket if the stock cables physically doesnt work(im not thinking im going to change the sound)

Just a trip to target or walmart will be enough.

I will keep that in mind.  For now I have 2 audio cables, 1 1 button cable, 1 3 button cable and V-Moda is sending me 1 more new audio and 1 more 1button cable so I should hopefully be set for a while.  All V-Moda cables.

Thank you
