I just remembered what else I wanted fixed in the new update.
 
1. Have 'artist' displayed on the music widget. I have so much music I don't care what the track title is as much as knowing who I'm listening to.
2. Have an 'auto-turn off' if music is paused for a set period of time. Lately, I've grabbed my DX100 and turned it on only to see the 'battery empty' icon. Once I grabbed it and turned it on but then forgot to use it and by the time I grabbed it again it was dead.
3. Have the battery life show in the Music Player app.
 
 
In regards to ICS, if they cut everything else out (with an option to manually enable all the other applications or abilities) then they should have enough memory to run both ICS and the Music player. Maybe they expect for everyone to use all the other apps and thus think they don't have enough memory to work with?
 
Also I checked the manual again and couldn't find a description of the DF. It just lists it amongst the other options saying it's among "several other self explanatory selections" or something to that effect.
 
The program may be buggy but it sounds damn awesome, and iBasso's communication and frequent firmware updates shows they're making an effort and for me, the bugs are 90% forgiven just for that.

Just emailed a few suggestions to iBasso (as well as reppin' figgie over here). I'll post their response when I get it.

If they can fix the gapless/fade in issue then I'm mostly satisfied at how the DAP runs. But hey if they can make the device bare-bones where you have the option to enable or disable all unnecessary process on the fly then I'm all game. That would definitely make the device more responsive and enjoyable to use. Regardless it is more responsive than before I updated and I am quite happy at the speed now.
 
lol temporaryname I seen your encounter with Nankai on the Hifiman thread. I don't agree with him though on the 256 Digital volume control as being lazy. For me it works extremely well and allows for great volume control. I've yet to see a volume pot that can beat a good Digital Potentiometer. Otherwise I would never have owned the UHA4 or even be considering the Pico Slim. I do value my hearing after all .

Will this app alter the tags or album are already imbedded in the FLAC files? I'm not sure why ibasso hasn't addressed this yet though. All of my music has been properly tagged with the album art embedded in each file. It works perfectly well on Power Amp and every other program I use.

Hmm.. not sure but I dont think so.. put it this way I haven't noticed it if does.

I guess it shouldn't matter either way. How long does it take for the tagging to finish? Is it very accurate at getting the right tags? lol I don't want to be putting the wrong tags on my files .
 

Personally, I prefer Cover Art Downloader as it gives you the option to attach the art from the gallery if you have all your music tagged properly with a cover.jpg in the folder.
 
Success rate is pretty high with Cover Art Downloader too, when it searches for album art.

So if you've basically tagged all your music you can use this app to get those files to show up? Sounds good. I'll give it a shot.

Yeah.....it doesn't touch your tags and works more as an overlay within the DAP.
 
What it can't find for you. Just manually select options on the album and chose gallery and find your album art there if you have a cover.jpg in your music folder.

Am I gonna have to do this manually? Lol this can take forever with the amount of albums I have . Also how do you use the embedded cover art already on the actual files?

I know it's something which no-one else seems to be fond of, however I'd like to see a 4.7-4.8" model.
 
The other deal breaker (although it seems like most people are ditching it now) is to have tactile playback buttons (play/pause, skip back, skip forward).
 
I don't need any of the other luxury android features like wifi, gaming, phone etc aside from being able to play chess and some brainteaser games (you know, memory, maths quizzes, iq tests etc). I'm pretty sure they'd work fine on the dx100.
 
Thanks for giving a more detailed review of the 2900s with the dx100. It has me lusting even more after a 4.8" dx100 with tactile buttons.

Same here, let's me use both sensitive and inefficient phones without any disadvantages. My biggest quip with the HM-801 was the analog potentiometre because it made listening to my Westone 4's an ordeal.

You know whats more puzzling? Ever since that update I'm finding the 3.5 Out to sound better with my IEMs than the full size outlet. Not sure why but the 3.5 seems to be more intimate and engaging. Before the difference between the ports wasn't this apparent but it sure is now.
 

Accidentally posted in the other thread that is dead. Didn't mean to do that. SPDIF I find easier and cheaper to do from the coax port as all you need 3,5mm stereo or mono headphone jacks on one or both sides, and/or RCA jacks on the other, plus the coax cable of your choice. Shield it extra if you want, and voila! 
 
Mine isn't handsome, but it works nicely, though I'd rather it was done in right angle connectors.
 
As for toslink/optical connections, I have the cables from long long ago. A small, portable one seems hard to find for cheap and tiny 3,5 connectors are even harder to find.
