Since most of us on here are Sony fans has anyone heard THIS player or know any background on it. It looks like a nice little player for using when tooling around. Anyone know if it's worth my time?

For all that, you'd be better off getting a sansa clip.

Ummm I already got one lol. I just like the look of that little player and I'm just wondering how it sounds.

This was kind of "popular" around my loose circle of friends. Never interested in it much though, and honestly I won't even know what to look out for if I'm testing it out.

I just received the new Meelec A161P and it is a seriously good budget, high quality single BA earphone.  Very linear response with great detail.  It vaguely reminds me of the TDK BA200, just not quite as full sounding (The BA200 has bigger bass presence).

Guys like these are taking over threads far too often. There's one of them who has 1,900 posts since December, half of which are "lol!" and "yeah."

One of them has been banned permanently, if I understand the situation correctly. Hopefully the portable section is on its back on the right track.

I'm well aware of the 1,900-posts-since-December HF'er you're talking about. The other person you mention, if he's the one I'm thinking of, has posted over 3,300 times since December, and far too many of his posts were along the same lines.

All joking aside I think that thread represents a fine example of people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired of crooks. Around 10 users scammed by a 18 year old kid leaving me to wonder what a seasoned crook who knows what he's doing could accomplish? Hopefully all the people scammed are able to get the Latvian police involved by getting in touch with the proper authorities.

I'm well aware of what that young 'dude' has done, and it's obviously wrong, but some of the things I've seen in that thread make me more than "slightly nauseated".

Well, at least this isn't a thread on 4chan / SA, in which case the guy would be by now neck deep in pizza deliveries and harassing phone calls (or worse), and more or less needing to move houses / identities. The thread is an interesting study in sociopathy.

As for that Sony gumstick Digital one of my local stores was selling them for pretty cheap. The Sony players I think are always decent. I used to use an old A series which was a gorgeous piece of kit.

I don't know if this sounds weird, but using my Miles Davis Tributes makes me not like using headphones as much. Not only are they more convenient, but they feel more intimate and close... I feel like IEMs are just superior to headphones...?

I think for the most part they are.  IMO it takes a very good headphone to be better than even a cheap IEM in most areas.

Don't know about your Sony's, compoopers, but I thought the HD555's (and to a lesser extent, the 650's) excelled at making anything else you listen to sound amazing.  I can't really say either are bad for their price, though, only voiced in a manner begging upgraditis.

That said, I'm not sure where I stand on IEMs vs headphones.  I tend to just hone in on whatever I like about something I'm listening to and, back in my Shure SRH and Sennheiser IEx days, I could easily find reason to use either.

It may sound like a cop-out, but I think IEMs and full sized headphones excel at different things. Listening to a nice pair of the former, you get a better sense of subtle nuances, delicacy, and heady micro-dynamics (lol whatever THOSE are m i rite?). With full sized headphones on the other hand, I find they convey weight and presence better. After listening to IEMs for a long stretch, moving to a full sized headphone---even a relatively inexpensive one---is a refreshing experience. And vice versa.

Maybe I'm just trying to give myself an excuse to keep buying more IEMs.

Yeah, I've already posted that I plan to stop buying headphones for awhile after ordering the Fitear To Go! 334's, but I'm feeling awfully tempted to check out those single-BA FAD's (I always forget the abbreviation) everyone loves, if only to join the Cool Kids Club.  The Turbines are tempting as well because I'm curious as to what a good Monster product sounds like.
