I have, on a few occasions, stuck my netbook in my belt, behind my back, and walked around the house/office listening to Pandora...

Must be easy for objet petit a to sabatoge your social life if she's always attached to you.  Can you say awkward?

Also, Orgone never stops being hilarious.

If you like the soundstaging, I think the 990 is better at it than the 880.  More treble though.  I dumped the 990/600s because they made kugi-lolis hurt my ears.  OTOH with the 990s I heard a bird chip behind me and I checked to see if Hikaru was ok since she's usually quiet at night before I realized it was just in the soundtrack.

Pick your poison...

BTW: The pro versions of the 880 and 990 are basically just the 250 ohm premium/edition/whatever-they're-calling-them-now with a tighter clamping headband that gives you a little more bass and a little less treble.

Interesting. I'd be sure to audition it when I have the chance. But recent encounter with the most insulting treble-spewer headphones would probably say I won't like it. But open mind, jgray91!!!

I figure she's kind of a tsundere remora and would refuse to do her "duties" in that regard. She's never around when my OC needs her, and always around when she doesn't.

I'm totally cracking up at the idea of a tsundere remora.

"I'm just hitching a ride.  It's not like I like you or something.  Baka Romy!"

Also something interesting I didn't know about remoras but found in the wiki link...

Quote:
There is controversy whether a remora's diet is primarily leftover fragments, or the feces of the host. In some species (Echeneis naucrates and E. neucratoides) consumption of host feces is strongly indicated in gut dissections.[3] For other species, such as those found in a host's mouth, scavenging of leftovers is more likely.

"duties" huh...

LOL. Artistic liberties. Her role is more in the capacity of an indentured servant.

Some more backstory which will further clarify her role.

The society of Atlantis from which my OC originates is currently in a state of social turmoil and cultural decline, and the Atlantians regard the surface world as something of an idealized society by comparison. Actually in truth many are cynical as to whether affairs are any better up there, but they go about clinging to the ideology deeply ingrained into their subconscious as if it were the case, mythologizing land-dwellers and their supposedly utopian society. As a result they are obsessively interested in exploring the surface world in the hopes that they can uncover some sort of answer to their problems there; it is therefore not uncommon for scouting parties and individuals to be sent there on missions or pilgrimages.

My OC is one of many illegitimate spawn of the current reigning monarch and consequently she has led a somewhat sheltered life. She uses the pretext of going to find answers for the good of the kingdom as an excuse to go adventuring, and the king, eager to get her out of his hair (yes my shark peoples have hair, which I find delightfully ridiculous), agrees and sends her on her way. She's not alone however: accompanying her is Objet Petit a who is supposed to be like a personal traveling butler or handmaiden or something to that effect. In actuality, her real task is to spy on my OC and report back any significant occurrences, but she takes neither job seriously and instead sits around complaining and eating raspberry licorice whips.

Happy 1000 pages to this thread.

jgray, I do believe you have to hear the DT1350s again for an extended audition. I think the Audio Technica might have influenced it. I agree it has a small soundstage, but it's larger imo compared to the HD-25s. It isn't bright, the treble is what I would call sweet - it hit the "sweet spot" where it wasn't sibilant nor was it too dark (I also have the GR07 with a peak but otherwise good treble and the dark, treble-shy ASG-1s). Also I listen to metal and classical which may influence my perception of the DT1350s. I didn't get to audition my pair before buying it. I tried the ones at Jaben several times but my pair came from B&H photovideo.

This product was made rather to impress in my opinion. The point of it is that it is pretty small ( the same size as compact Panasonic GX1).

It is a unique camera. Not accessible for most because of price but it will make an impact. It's like what OLED TVs are today. Very expensive but they are the future.

I'm not sure I agree with "they are the future", but I certainly agree with everything else. It seems like an odd combination to me - consumers (and even most prosumers) have very little use for a full-frame camera, yet I really doubt a fixed-mount camera would appeal to most people that would label themselves amateur or pro photographers. But, I'm old school - for me its "all about the glass" and the sensor is somewhat irrelevant - as long as I have good low-light performance, high-speed, low-noise, full control, great metering, etc, etc. I suppose using a larger sensor is one way to boost the total megapixel count, and for the typical conspicuous consumer that's all that really matters. And yeah, I know the pocket camera has been a growing sub-genre of photography for many years, and I do believe the old adage of "the best camera is the one you have with you", but if I'm going to take any camera I want to a once in a lifetime photo op, and size is not an issue, then I'm going to reach for a DSLR with my favorite lenses.

With that said, OLED *is* the future - I want a huge OLED display!!!

Warren: Windows 7 is the best Microsoft Windows workstation operating system that has ever been released. And I've used them *all* going back to Windows 1.0. You should note that I chose my words very carefully...

You've got quite a backstory already.   Random ideas:

A story where Objet tries to use the orgone accumulator for something dirty.  Cue hilarious backfire.

All the Atlanteans (or maybe only some, like just the royal line) can shapeshift between legs and a tail like in Seto no Hanayome.  Immature merfolk automatically shifting to the appropriate from in the presence or absence of water like in SnH optional.

I certainly can admit that the A1000X did leave a certain euphoric, borderline orgasmic tbh, sensation that my somewhat unhealthy obsession of the A1000X seems to be true when I finally can listen to it. And just went to a neutral (relatively IMO, and according to general consensus) left me a little underwhelmed. I've checked my notes of both the DT1350 and the GR07 MKII, and there's only 2 songs that are common between the two auditions. Not a lot that can be deduced without another session, though. What I would say though, and can be read from my post here and in my blog, is that the GR07 MKII is The Perfection.

I also would like to note, and believe, that I am better at listening to perceived differences and details now. My reasoning for this is that I can 'hear' the purported soundstage of the FXT90 now than the last few months I've owned it. I haven't used it at all after I got my MDR-7550 (2 months ago) and it was during my flight back to Moscow that I noticed this 'change'. Some people would say it would be the burn in, but as I noted I haven't used it for the past 2 months.

With this increase in EXP, I would have to revisit the DT1350, the A1000X and dread the time to try the T1 again. :p

MF, your fursona backstory reminds me of my joyous time of anime RP back when an anime forum still lived (RIP somemanga, death to wutz).

ZOMG a SnH mention! Nice one, maverick!

Stay happy with my dad. I'm sure he'd appreciate it, despite the fit issues. :p

Congrats everyone on a job well done. Obviously it takes a lot of co-ordination and planning to get to 1000 pages in a thread. You don't get there by everyone just posting randomly, that's for sure!
------

@muppetface I'm kinda curious as to why when asked to set up a fursona, you created an entire meta-fiction for her and displaced her in that world? I'm just curious because, with a few exceptions, all the furries I have met actually use their fursonas as an adjunct to their personalities. I've also met furries with no fursona at all; though they make and create artwork around some furry OC's. (At least, I feel as though that doesn't really qualify as a fursona).

I tried coming up with a fursona myself, but alas it was not really my thing. While I have an affinity to cats I've never felt I have another self that would be better expressed as a mix of animal and human traits.

Also, your OC sounds like a hilarious adult swim cartoon!
