So shouldn't the latest version be called the Rev. 4 then? Having so many revisions of expensive headphones doesn't give me much confidence.

It's still rev2; rev3 was dubbed by yours truly and was never an official revision.

 

I do agree though that this whole mess is pretty damaging to the reputation of the HE400 reliability, despite the fact that pretty much all rev2s (pre- and post-recall) are very reliable. Remember, even the "rev3"s were reliable and did not have any driver-malfunctioning issues, they just had a treble issue because Hifiman tried a new driver plastic.

I need to find something to do with all these pleather ear pads. Up to 3 pairs of them now.

Got my replacement in the mail w/ pleathers along with an extra pair (no clue why).

You know you could have easily sent an email to head direct customer service after sending in your recalled unit, and asked them to send replacement back with only velour pads.

 

They threw in extra pads for all the replacements of the recall AFAIK, I requested velours so I got the replacement with 2 pairs of em. Now I have 4 pairs of velours lol. I'm set on velours for life yo.

Still waiting on my pair. Looks to be coming from China this time. I was expecting it to come from the US front, oh well...

Hopefully here next week.

Well, I originally sent them in for repair not for replacement so we didn't go through all those steps in our emails.

Apparently once they got them they just decided it was easier to bunch me in w/ the recalls and just give me a new pair altogether.

The default action of any unit being sent in to Hifiman is replacement I think, unless you explicitly state you want it repaired and retain the original unit's shell etc.

 

Well, it might make a fanatical environmentalist angry, but hey you got a whole new pair haha.

Haha yeah looking back perhaps it would have been wiser to go with fedex. Just to be clear, I wasn't placing any blame on you justin, but the bums here who failed to notify me.

So is the DT-990 going to supplement your HE-400, or are you getting rid of the HE-400 again just like you did with the HD 650?
