I was wondering if it would be a good idea to have an indication if a post is modified by a moderator. It doesn't have to name the moderator, just the fact that it was edited and perhaps the time. Maybe it is just me, but it is disconcerting to read a thread where heated discussion is taking place, come back to it later and not have a clue how much has been edited.

If I am completely off base here, please let me know. Or maybe a mod can just delete this post

I can't really think of any examples other than blatant blocking out of a word (like in today's thread in the HeadRoom forum) in which posts of others are edited. In fact, editing someone's post is something that none of the moderators encourage, except for in extreme cases (I think the word that was blocked in those posts called for it), and clear mark of editing is usually left.

However, I do understand your concern, and will ask all moderators to leave an edit note in the post. I edited the second post today to cover the word in question with "[deleted]" and will leave a mention in that post saying so.

Of course, it should be up to the moderator to decide whether he/she wants to indicate that a post has been edited. If anyone else wants to comment about this issue, feel free to do so.

Thank you for addressing my concern, Jude.

Hi Serow,

Admittedly it wasn't an "edit", but here is an example of how I show that i have been into someones post

Hope that helps

That was a good example of a clearly edited post. No one would wonder "wasn't that post longer before?" or "where did the rest go?" Thank you for showing that to me Duncan.
