Let's just say your DAC/amp choice won't be the difference between loving the HD800 and hating it, despite what hundreds of hyperbole laden impressions or reviews you've read.

It won't be too difficult to sell that Audio-GD unit used, so just go for it.

I'll go for it soon enough.

I doubt audio-gd product resale value, seeing their 3.14159265359abcde product update and naming scheme :/

Mmmmm tru dat, he should be trying to buy used anyway if he's buying blind, which he probably is since he hasn't heard anything yet.

Audio-GD products seem to be well-regarded.

Buying used is something I'd rather avoid, even at this point. Too smelly!

Got my new graphics card .3
Off to some BF4!

Do you happen to know how to underclock the GPU on an Alienware M11x?

(I want to see if it helps the fan calm down.)

In the meantime...

Have you seen this?

It's an anime OVA included with Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (PSP remake of Mega Man X).

Hanayamata 09: another nice episode with great execution on most parts. Emotions and turmoil really came through. 8/10

I don't, but I'm sure Google will gladly lend you a hand.
There is this one program called Speedfan...don't know if that thing works with laptops.

I'm a backer and still hoping it hits 5.1 mill somehow.

Something that impressed me:

You know what would be awesome? If you recorded yourself playing like many "let's play" series on youtube. I would definitely love watching you complete the game. I'll watch the vid for sure once I get time, no doubt my fruend. RealTalk™

You can alter the speed with it.

Ah, okay. The last thing I read about it is that it's only for desktop computers.

Either way, slowing the fan down might end up doing more harm than good, since when the fan really goes crazy, it's because the laptop is so hot that it eventually shuts off. (Only when I'm multitasking too much.) If I tried slowing the fan down, it could overheat even more easily.

I've been talking with a guy who builds computers and may end up having him build one for me.

[edit] the Castle popcorn gif didn't want to play. So here's a sports one for you sporty folks. It's not rugby so I don't care.

I was actually thinking about that yesterday when playing Mighty No. 9 since screenshots probably won't do it justice. I'm not familiar with screen capturing programs though. The only one I know of is free, but the audio from the computer doesn't get captured, which makes it a bit lame for doing a "let's play" video.

That plus I'm running on a MacBook Pro, so I'm not sure how the performance will be when running both the game and the screen recording/audio program.

Yup, I've seen that. Pretty cool animation. I like the original Mega Man animation more though because it was so cheesy, hahaha.

TOKYO... Hideo Kojima announced today his very moving and humbling endorsement of the Under the Dog anime Kickstarter project. We are honored to receive such words.

English “Coming with the permeation of the internet [in our daily lives], “creating” and a production’s “financing” structure have changed significantly.

Now, new methods of “creating” are being put to the test, where direct communication between the creator and the global user has become the norm and the creator is not bound by the former traditional investor or clientele. In such circumstances right now, a writer with remarkable talent, Jiro Ishii, who brought to the world numerous renowned adventure games during his “salary man” days, has now taken up the torch in order to challenge the traditions and establish this new future of “creating.” This is “Under the Dog,” the crowdfunding effort for an indie anime based on Jiro Ishii’s original story.

One cannot help but pay close attention to this project. One cannot help but cheer on this project. In particular, how can this creator who garners cult-like popularity catalyze a new chemical reaction [in the industry] by putting an emphasis on “creating,” which stands apart from the typical commercial oriented projects? One cannot help but look forward to this succeeding.

Jiro Ishii’s indie challenge will not only change the path for “creating,” but at the same time declare the answer for the question: Can game designers be accepted by the world as storytellers in [other mediums] as well?”

These kind words from Kojima-san come on the heels of UTD announcing late last week that it would be allowing backers who pledge at the $20 tier or higher will not only have access to the digital version of the first OVA but also digital access to any future Under the Dog animations. If the UTD meets its goal at any point of producing a trilogy of films, backers who pledged $20 or more will have them.

Is there a way to increase scrolling speed in Mavericks other than in the Accessibility options? The scrolling speed seems a lot slower than Mountain Lion even on the maximum setting. It's taking me foreeeeeeeever to scroll through webpages now. >.>

What are you referring to here?

If you like Mega Man music, you should check out my favorite rapper Mega Ran.

Formerly known as Random, Mega Ran makes "chip hop" — rap with video game music samples. Capcom granted him an exclusive license to use Mega Man tunes in his songs

Lots of free downloads here. (He also uses music from Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and a ton of others.)

Also, I came across more reassuring impressions today.

I just got a HD800 about two weeks ago.
My impressions as of now are:
1. Not bright at all.
2. Not thin at all.
3. Extremely transparent.  (some may mistake this for brightness)
4. Very true to the source.
5. Soundstage is best I have heard on headphones.
6.  No lack of bass.  Whatever is on the recording- you get.
7.  To my ears-  better than the SR-009.  The 009 has serious bass issues and something is the out of whack in the spacial presentation.  The imaging, soundstage, impact, and bass are much better on the HD800.  The 009 is indeed slightly smoother.
8.  My ears do not hurt at all. They feel good.
9.  Sounds great with rock although I do not listen to heavy metal.  The impact is much better than electrostats.  I do not see this as a classical or symphony music only headphone at all.
10. I think my ears must be different than most people because everything above goes against a lot of other peoples opinions.
