That is the most outrageous name I've ever seen.

I'm an amateur knife nut, similar to myself being an amateur audio enthusiast. My love for them coincided with my frequent cooking. I was struggling with crap knives for a while, and I decided to purchase a Global G2. It's a great entry-level knife. The grip is surprisingly comfortable, and the edge cuts through everything I have with ease. I love the aesthetics of the higher-end Japanese knives, and I will eventually have a full set. Some of the Hattori's are beautiful and quite reasonably priced.

Based on reality, not as outrageous as you would think =/

Just got myself a Mac Knife Professional 8 1/2" chefs knife. It was on sale and I needed a new knife, but I've never held it. Should be here in the next day or two. Hope I end up liking it... I'll be using it regardless, but it would be nice if it was weighted right for my preference.

Just finished watching The Avengers for like, the 4th time. 3 pages in the time of a dinner+one movie?? @Music Alchemist and
@Spada05 are doing a magnificent job at speeding up this thread!

Quote:

  I'd totally watch this anime~

Likewise!!

Touhou is a series of primarily top down bullet-hell style games, and while there are a couple of animated series out there it's mostly fan-made. There was an announcement for an official Touhou anime a few years ago, but it hasn't come out yet.

Biiig biig Touhou music scene out there, along with various fan-made manga and such.

Wow, fan-made animes? I must watch them!

This is a pretty famous Touhou song:

There are some unimaginably large Touhou music collections out there; so big that you'd have to buy a new hard drive and allocate your (my) whole year's internet quota to accommodate for.

ALL THINGS MONOGATARI! Go watch it. Nao. It's my #1. I'm watching Blood-C for you. DOOO IT!

That amp is so pretty!

Those soundtrack covers are awesome. I particularly like the first one.

AH! This reminded me of Advent Children, which is one of my roommate and I's favorite movies. We watch it all the time.

O.o Woah! That's such a pretty picture. I don't recognize where it's from, though. Do tell!

I did my best to read through everything at work, I'm sure I missed some though! Meh. I tried. :)

mm, looks scrumptious, judging from random images. Monogatari was added to my to-watch list a few days ago. Your gesture is romantic, so I'll make it the next series I watch.

I assume you mean the 234. Although I usually prefer stealth black, I like the platinum finish far more - it looks like something out of a Resident Evil movie!

This will jog your memory a little better:

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is my favorite computer-animated film. There are two anime films included as a bonus with the limited edition DVD box set and the Advent Children Complete Blu-ray. The first one is very special if you're a Final Fantasy VII fan. (Please tell me you've beaten that game.)

You may already know that I collect Final Fantasy soundtracks. One of the rarest items I have is the first press edition of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Original Soundtrack.

It comes with the most gorgeous foil slipcase:

The pic is from the Sailor Moon - Adult Edition anime that my imaginary production company is developing. (I'm obviously kidding.)

Yeah, you missed a lot... Did you see the four Rosario + Vampire OP/ED vids?

Ooohhhh okay, I just wrongly assumed that you were familiar with it, since you are a hardcore music enthusiast and all. XD

Basically, doujin music in Japan is akin to 'indie' in western music, and many of the vocalists start out on nicovideo (basically the Japanese YouTube) covering songs, mainly Vocaloid. Are you familiar with Vocaloid music?

The doujin music scene is quite diverse, but one of the problems is the difficulty of discovering artists, and worse, buying the CDs is tricky to say the least, as they're most often only available at conventions such as Comiket and M3. Still, it's very rewarding discovering a 'nobody', and nothing quite compares to the satisfaction of following an artist before they made it big. :D:D

I don't think there are any big review/comparisons, very few people actually have both of the amps, let alone have heard them, but if you crawl the meet threads or the big Stax thread, I'm pretty sure practically everyone agrees that the DIY T2 is the best electrostatic amp out there. That's not to the BHSE is bad in comparison by any means, faaaar from it, after all, the Blue Hawaii design is based upon the T2.

By the way soup-chan, if I recall correctly you bought some posters from pixiv or something like that? What was the rough price and would you recommend the purchase in regards to print quality and such?

Having some Booker's bourbon atm, not too sure I'd rate it significantly higher than Maker's Mark, I'd give it 6/10. Muricaahhhh.

Okay, so it's just Japanese indie music. No wonder I was out of the loop. I know what Vocaloid is, but not much else.

You should read my amateur music career history at the top of my sig link, as it's very relevant.

I may have read a few comparisons where some preferred either one over the other, but I've done ten times more research on the BHSE.

A quick example.

Liked this. Thanks a bunch.

Meh, I'm more of a Mizore fan.

I would totally marry Kurumu. (She's also the personal favorite of the author.)

  *high 5*

Mizore best girl.

...At least
Kurumu and Mizore make out in the manga.

Ah, I see. And here I had assumed it was an anime.

I really wish someone would make an official series. I'm intrigued.

This image is so cool that I set it as my wallpaper.

A little background info:
deadlylover: "Touhou + Sailor Moon"
me: "Please show me anything that is remotely similar to that image in anime form!"
deadlylover: "I don't think there's anything that compares to that image, the budget would have to be astronomical."

(I would properly quote all that, but already started composing this reply.)

Did my own search for the image. This seems to be the link to the original. Not sure what connection it has to the games and animation. It was also described on another site as "The celestial guardians. By NEKO."

@deadlylover Care to elaborate on the specifics of this image?

Safely nestled in the loving arms of abject oblivion, of course.

(But if you look at his posts, it would appear he's been busier watching anime than posting here.)

I still don't understand the appeal for Touhou. It's like making Metal Slug into a worldwide phenomenon, except that never happens. What happened to Touhou? The games themselves aren't a whole lot of fun.

Spoiler: they are.

I've played 6-8 and they weren't that fun to me.

Bullet hell with silly hard difficulty is an acquired taste for sure.

rtype best bullet-hell shooter ever!

Ehh... I'll stick with Einhänder.

Even with near-invincibility cheats, I'm not sure it's possible to beat the game without getting blown up more than a few times.

I flexed my posting muscles earlier in the weekend, but yesterday and today have been busy :frowning2:

I suppose so, with the name. My roommate works phone retail, and he told me about a guy who walked in that was literally named "Big Money." He wore a red pinstripe suit and bought three phones. This was in a rougher part of town, before he switched stores. I believed every second of it.

Hope you like the knife, I looked into Mac knives a bit before landing on the Global and they seemed quite nice. A chef's knife is really all you'll ever need, anything after that is just for convenience in my opinion. Unless you're a professional or something.
