Ok, thanks. It can well be tweaked hi2050/pro80 driver. Thats good news. Bad news is that now I really have to get those. I have no idea how old ts671. Looks can be deceiving. And if it is infact improved version of hi2050 it is of course newer headphone and also the unofficial flagship takstar. I can't really consider hd6000 totl takstar because it seems to be directed more towards average consumer. I have not heard it though but that is how it seems to me.
my guess is that the ts671 is older. I dont know about the sound quality but aesthetically it looks like a step down if it is a newer model. it looks outdated, the plug is silver instead of gold, and i think it is made of hard plastic and no metal parts. it is cheaper though.
Edit: And man, where did they get the model for that, his hair style is so 90's
Takstar TS-671's shape is... personally pretty weird. But let me tell you one thing, the comfort is quite awesome . I can wear this thing for hours without feeling any tension on any part of my head .
Wider soundstage than both of them, better imaging than both of them , thicker sounding than both of them , surprisingly less forward high than both of them, and far better comfort than both of them .
Vocal is so damn sweet on this one .

I don't mind bass shy..I like k501. If it's like k501 I'm all in. Not so much if it's like k701. I don't know what it was but I pretty much hated k701 when I had it for couple of weeks.
I can attest to the similarities of Takstar ts671 to the AKG house sound. That was also the premise on which I bought these headphones.
In some ways they deliver on the promise.
However, being an AKG 'fanboy' I have some remarks about their sound especially compared to the headphone I use the most - the lovely K501.
Although some similarities can be drawn between the two, they are very different. If one would buy a TS671 expecting a K501 sound he will not like what he will hear. They really pale in comparison, to be honest.
K501 is one of the most timbre accurate non-electrostatic headphone out there. TS671, while fairly natural and neutral, do not share this attribute. The sound is more treble happy and "hi-fi". Appealing at first but the artificial and slightly metallic tone will induce listening fatigue more promptly.
Both are bass light headphones, but the low end is a bit more obvious on the Takstar and doesn't feel as light as it is on K501, due to a more pronounced mid-bass hump. But the downside is a noticeable bass bleed in the lower midrange impairing a less natural timbre to some instruments or human voices.
Although appearing more bass-light, the K501 has more impact and dynamism in the sound, bass notes are exquisitely textured and tuneful. The TS671 is more dull and flat.
As noted earlier TS671 is more etched in the treble and delivers a certain sheen and hardness to it. That, in my view, is probably it's weakest point. It can be toned down with careful EQ-ing, but I found it affected both it's spatial presentation and tonal balance making it sound less open.
And lastly I don't hear the same emotional engagement and passionate rendering of the K501 in the Takstar.
The beautiful and communicative midrange of the K501 is not to be found in TS671, which has a more recessed midrange and far less communicative in comparison.
This may sound like I'm putting the Takstars completely down, but I am not. I am perhaps just as critical towards even more expensive headphones like K701, which doesn't live up to K501's legacy (IMO).
All in all the TS671 is a very good headphone for a very low price, and one should appreciate it for it's own merit.
But if anyone is looking for K501 "magic" on the cheap they should look elsewhere, especially at the lower end models from the same generation, in particular K400 and K401, or even K300/301.
They are real gems and, although rare, they can be had for very little money on ebay Germany. I paid little over 20 euro for a fully functional K300 not too long ago.
Thanks to this thread I purchased a Gemini HSR 1000 (Takstar Pro 80). After purchasing and returning several headphones, these were keepers. I have over 200 hours in and I really love the total sound signature. A little dark/warmish with excellent clarity but really nice bass to my ears. Very impressed with the build quality and looks good. I even like the coiled cable that no one else seems to. I have the HM5 Brainwavz pads on the way and am looking forward to hearing the phones with them.
I am so impressed with these, as many others have been, I was thinking of picking up either the HD6000 or the HD5500. I really love sub-bass but like some clarity as well. Anyone with experience with these two care to comment? I was also looking at the UE6000.
I still can't get over how good these Takstars (Gemini) are.
Hy,new here and making a sound setup for my new rig and Asus Xonar sound card. One guy receomended me a Takstar as insane priced HiFi stereos and I see a lot of satisfied people. i'm by no means an audiophile but I know to respect a above average sound when I hear it.
So... any recommendations?

Yes, in a way the K601/701 generation went a few steps backwards from the standard set by K501. But they have their own merits and their own fan base, I guess.
The new generation is more attractive, imo, and shares some of the excitement of the "old days". I enjoy very much the K712pro, it strikes a very interesting balance between the K501 sound and perhaps some Sennheiser smoothness and bass. Only wished I had the money for the K812 ....

I like my HSR-1000 (Pro 80 clone), but at $8 more, then Martin Logan Mikros 90 has a much better sound, if you're willing to switch to on-ear. There is a HUGE thread on the Mikros 90.
