That's cool mate. I wanted an LD but consensus over there was the it wasn't particularly well matched to the Q no matter what tubes were used. I'll get valves some day but right now I needed something to push the Q's. I've got that now and it does :)

I heard most people complain about the headband bumps i don't have that problem but this big cups it's clamping my jaw.Anyone have this problem?any suggestions.

I had a problem with it. The headband bumps actually deformed the top of my head following extended period of use. So I tried exercised the bumps, pressed them over and over again until they became soft. Works well IMO

Same here too, lol. Before I bought these I used to read these complaints and not really take them seriously. I've never owned headphones that have ever caused me to even think about headband comfort before. Then I bought them. I get a burning sensation after about 20 minutes and need to move them slightly.

It's strange how a pair of headphones that look very comfy can actually be so bad.

Hehe funny how it works differently for everyone.

I had enough with the headband so I stripped off the bumps with an exacto knife and taped foam on it.

That i want to see.....

To be honest it's not the pads stiffness really bothering me it's how big the cup and the clamping pressure.

If the Q701's cup size (lol that sounds dirty) bothers you, then chances are you're not going to be happy with HD800, which has even bigger cups.

Pads = very little clamping pressure for me.  I'd actually prefer just a bit more.  Q pads on my HE-500s = best HE-500 sound from the many pads I've tried.  That's a real Qoup... errr, coup

Bumps = death to my (mostly) bald head, so I sliced them off, split a bandana in two (corner to corner), folded it a few times, then wrapped it around the headband.  Perfect and dirt cheap.  It's even black on white, so it matches my white Qs

There are a few pix in this thread.

Best/worst Q moment: when one of the little screws fell inside the cup during an iteration of the bass port mod

How the hell it got in there, I don't know, esp. since I couldn't shake it out.  Ended up breaking connections (wires soldered to posts) in order to free the driver, in order to get that damn screw.  Avoided the temptation to defenestrate said screw, soldered the wires back on (a very tidy job of it, too!), et voila!  my Qs are as good as new.  So I count that as best and worst, but it serves as a tale of caution to us crazy modders.

Curious to hear anyone else's best/worst moment(s) with their Qs.
