Well,

I have had mine for a week now, and I love them. The bass response is amazing, but a bit weak at normal listening levels. When I first opened the package, I just plugged them into my ipod at about 70% volume and let it run all weekend. I wanted to make sure they got a good burn in before really testing them.

My question is, where can you get tips? The ones included are alright, but come loose quickly. It's like they can't get deep enough into my ear canal. The body is larger and the tips shorter than the Panasonic pair I had been using.

About a week ago I jumped on a deal for the MEElectronics A161P (for $66 shipped).  I was excited to get them as I had never tried a good pair of earphones before.  They get very good reviews here.

And for the life of me, I really could not tell much of a difference between them and the 8320.

The A161P had just ever so slightly better bass and treble, but just the smallest amount.

The 8320 had a much better soundstage.

Other than that, it was like they were twins.  I really had to listen hard to hear the differences.

I ended up returning The A161p because there was too much "background noise" when trying to drive them with my Samsung Galaxy III.  Which is weird, because they were designed for use with phones.  Plus, hard to justify the price when the 8320 is right up there with it in SQ.

So, for the time being, I can rest easy knowing that my $7 IEM (plus comply tips) can go head to head with some of the better lower price High-Fi earphones.

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the IEM scene (finally got tired of iphone ear buds) and have read a lot of reviews/suggestions on this forum in regards to "budget" IEMs, which the 8320s and the M9s get mentioned a lot.

Today, I just received a pair of the monoprice 8320 as well as the Meelectronics M9, got them both on-sale for similar price after shipping.

Exicted as I am, i put them on my iphone and tried them out!  my initial observation (both IEMs have no burn-in time) comparing the two, the 8320 seems bright and has recessed bass (bass not much better than my iphone ear buds?), and the M9 seems more boomy with recessed treble.  I tried using the double tip from the M9 on the 8320 and it barely improved the bass response.

so far, I am liking the M9 better (borderline acceptable mid, a lot more bass, better isolation), but I really want to like the 8320 too

my question to the fellow 8320 owners, did i get a defective 8320 because people seems happy with the bass on their 8320 in this thread.  Also, will burn-in bring out more bass on the 8320?

thanks for reading

Amping(or EQ)will do the trick. +3~5db is good enough for me. (using Fiio E10)

I received mine about a week ago. They're all right for the price, I suppose, but they certainly don't live up to the hype. They're too harsh and fatiguing.

Thanks for sharing! I was on the fence when that deal came around, but decided against it. I'm glad I did. It's funny, I bought the UE 700 when they were on sale. Both the 8320 and UE 700 have the same basic sound sig. The MP's is wider but thinner. The bass is much better on the MP (with Comply Tips). The treble is more reveling and extends further on the UE, but has a lot of siblence with some types of music. If your a treble head you'd probably like the UE. The only thing keeping me from selling the UE is their size and excellent fit.

i searched thru this thread and just did the tape mod, nothing special, just double layers of scotch tape i found in my office supplies (the semi transparent, "plasticky" type that we use to seal envelops), and that brought out more bass.  However, this mod seems to only increase the mid bass (and half way between mid and low bass) but not the really low end. i am still not feeling low rumbles in movies and games

i am not an audiophile, so I cant tell if such mod made it sound muddier or not, but definitely made it more fun when listening to pop/rap/gaming/movies

so far, with a day of burn in, and w/ the tape mod, I am still thinking the 8320 is more suited for pure music lovers and the M9 more suited for pop/rap/gaming/movies

still burning in both the M9 and the 8320, will try to compare and listen for more audiophile qualities such as sound stage, instrument separation etc on sunday night when they both get 3 days of continuous burn in

my burn in tracks: lady gaga - the edge of glory (full range frequency), sir mix-a-lot - baby got back (bass), neon trees - everybody talks (vocal, treble and tight bass)

commemts/suggestions appreciated!
