Thanks for the pic it looks amazing! I always wondered if a tube dac and tube amp would be too much in terms of "tubey" sound or too "toobish" if you know what I mean. Have you tried it?

Just started, but it would take sometime for the V-Caps CuFT and the Tesla 6ECC42 D-Getter to burn in.

Fantastic, thanks for the information.  I'm intrigued by the Stockholm, but I already have too many DACs.

Well, this is my 5th DAC, couldn't resist though.
Could that be another addiction?

It's possible!  Though, not a bad addiction to have.  What are the other four?

I'm thinking of picking up one more as well, but it'll probably be a Lavry DA11.  Already got a Cary Xciter DAC, Benchmark DAC1 and Resolution Cantata Music Center.

I'm more of an amp hoarder myself.

Don't mention amps and tubes please!

Beresford TC-7520
CI Audio VDA-2 with VAC-1
North Star Design DAC 192 MKII
Twisted Pear Buffalo 24
Weiss DAC2

So the Stockholm is the 6th one, not counting transports, docks and converters.

PS You are very bad encouraging me!
When is your Cary amp arriving?

You have a great collection of DACs!

I'm actually waiting for some tests to be run on the 300SEI.  Basically, myself and a few others are trying to figure out if there'd be any benefit to getting custom 50 ohm output transformers to replace the stock 4/8 ohm transformers.  Once I know more about how that affects sound quality, I'll decide what I want to do.  If it's a significant improvement, I don't mind spending some extra to get custom trafos made.

It's a bit ridiculous that I still don't have the amp, because I have a huge box full of 6SN7s, and no use for them.  Either way, I don't want to wait more than a few more months before getting the Cary.  If I don't know about the output trafos by October, I'll probably just go ahead and buy a stock unit.  Plan is to drive the HiFiMan HE-6 straight off the speaker outputs.

Back on topic, how does the modded Stockholm compare to the Weiss and the North Star?

Come on give me a breather.

They are on separate rigs so it's impossible at the minute to make a proper assessment.
The worst part is, I am not disciplined enough, once the music starts the evaluation soon stops.

Your Cary is going to be fantastic.
We must talk about the 300B's next.

Did you do the full mod on the stockholm yourself or did you have it done by someone else?

Thanks
