Whats the secret behind the LCD 2's popularity here?

My point is why do it.  Why include the R.1 instead of the R.2.  It is no longer available.

The R1's are still available in the for sale section and ebay for those who still want one.
Tyl hasn't tested an Orpheus, R10, Qualia, HE60, Taket H2, ERGO AMT etc either yet.

I'm sure if someone loaned them, he would do it.

It's early days yet in this comparo, so give things a chance to develop.

BTW, the world doesn't revolve around your wishes or opinions, so lighten up......

My r1 is a late version with the new pads.  I've measured the r2 and the difference is small.  As was said, the 007 mk1 is out of print as well.  Truth is, you don't always get what you want. C'est la vie.

Also, remember this: the more you bitch, the more my reviews create controversy, the more they get read.  Thanks for the boost mate.

As they say in show biz, "Any press is good press."

And, by the way, it is show biz.  I do my best, of course, but the only review that really counts is yours. All else is just good fun. Lighten up, Francis.

Bottom line is both rev1 and rev2 are exceptional and probably the finest set of cans for pure sound quality currently available, just a pity about the ergonomics, too large and heavy for my tastes.
I have heard both versions and have a very slight preference for the rev2 , I also thought the comfort factor was improved.

Fixed it for ya. I'd say the revised statement is something we all can agree with.

They're great headphones, and while I don't think they're on the top of the world like the hype would suggest, but they might be for you, and that's all that matters in the end.

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of buzz on the T1s here, though whenever they are mentioned its usually overwhelmingly positive. They're truly great allrounders - I don't really listen to any of those genres you've mentioned.

After several months of the Aussie dollar being above parity with the USD, we now find ourselves back around 97 cents, but the T1 remains at $1199 from an Aussie reseller (Amazon has them at just over 1200USD). Given the 'Aussie tax' most of our distributors impose on any big brand headphone that comes into this country, that's exceptionally good for a flagship headphone.

I have no idea how these compare to the LCD-2, but I agree that they have had favourable reviews. I guess they just got a little lost in the stampede to the LCD-2. For me, the question is whether a single headphone would give me more pleasure than DT880+K702+more CDs - it never ends.

I liked the T1 ~ construction is beautiful, lightweight with extensive attention to detail. The LCD-2 looks like an artisanal artefact in comparison.

But the T1's 'all roundedness' meant that I found it to be a little too neutral and character-less across the range, I found the same thing with
the T5p. Would I buy one? Not for me personally. But I will certainly recommend them to some people for audition.

I bought a pair of T1 when it was on sale for AUD$1099. Couldn't be happier with them.
I don't know about the DT880 but the T1 definitely made my K701 redundant such that I sold them off because I knew the chances of me reaching for them isn't going to be much after spending every night with the T1 for the entire month.  I'm still going to try the LCD-2 (but I have a feeling I won't like it as I didn't care for the Senn HD650 which gets compared to the LCD-2 a lot) and the HD800 someday due to their reputation, but if I can only keep one pair of headphones now I'll easily pick the T1 without second thoughts.

Thanks for the feedback, guys - I guess one man's pleasure is another man's poison, and I find Gwarmi's 'too neutral' comment particularly interesting. Still, I can easily find 180 degree differences of opinion on the DT880, arguably one of the most popular high-end headphones on the market, so I shouldn't be surprised that the flagships provoke even more debate.
