Hey smeggy, are the pad really easy to change, because at the moment I'm not the richest person on earth so I probably won't get the O2 pads right away, but in the future...

UPDATE:  FORM CREATED

Hello everyone.  Several posts ago, I mentioned that I was in the process of creating a form for the purpose of collecting information from everyone.  I'm am pleased to inform you that, in spite of some technical difficulties, the form has been created, and may be found here.  If you're still interested in the group buy, please fill out the form at your earliest possible convenience.  Once everyone has entered their info, we can see which three woods are most popular and proceed from there.

Best,

Brent

Yeah, I'm standardizing the baffle so you can swap pads. If you start with the Fostex they'll come with a thick foam strip under the pad rear which you can peel off when you swap the pads.

If there is still a spot open, I'll take it.  Will see where everyone is going with the choice of wood - would prefer one of the lighter colors but that is only a preference.

Question smeggy... I know it depends on where the wood's purchased, but wouldn't a block generally be enough for a bazillion cups? (Like 30) 15 headphones or so? Or is there a slight creation of error?

Jw...

btw, been drooling at your creation for the last year or so. Hats off to ya Gary!

That would be the case if people could pick a single wood type, unfortunately, the expensive woods tend to be the rarer ones, so large boards are extremely rare and as the size goes up, price increases exponentially. This stuff doesn't grow on tree ya know! :D

Hi guys,

Here's a good place to study different types of wood http://www.edroman.com/customshop/wood/main.htm

My vote goes to a very black wood, like "AA grade Ebony" here http://www.exoticwood.biz/ebony.htm

I'll wait and see what kind of wood/material you guys go with.

I'll go for high quality black ebony also.  They use high grade ebony to make guitar and I think because of the hardness, it may sound good as a headphone cup/housing.

I think it's full at the moment, but a spot may open, as for the wood, you can basically choose (and ask smeggy) between all the ones in the list smeggy made previously (we won't go with a single wood for everyone as planed at first!).

Smeggy, I do not know if brazilian rosewood the same as Honduran rosewood.  But I have a very high end classic guitar that use brazillian rosewood as the body.  It suppose to make great sound.  I don't mind to pay a little more for better and more exotic wood.  Thanks.

Hey smeggy at this rate we could probably get a 40 to 60 people group buy, are you interested to start a factory? :p (sorry by the way, your life is probably going to be really busy in the next few weeks by my fault  )

Not sure if this applies to headphones, but you audio nuts will most likely appreciate this comparison of Maple VS Rosewood (helps if you don't look at the video, so you're not visually influenced) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQffNqkx-mM
