ULTRASONE NEW ANNOUNCED HEADPHONE Signature Pro
Feb 9, 2012 at 2:08 AM Post #346 of 2,431
Just a quick addition to this thread.  Grabbed a pair of Sig Pros off of Paul at Fulcrum Audio this evening in the Toronto area.  So far I like what I hear, construction is top notch and overall have to say that this appears to be a top tier hp.  More impressions to follow as burn in develops .  Many thanks to Paul at Fulcrum for super service and follow through and Muppetface for some insightful opinions on these keepers.

Deep rich bass, great extension and transparency.  These opinions coming from an old school Grado fanboi to boot, you owe it to yourself to demo a pair.

lol thats true, to your Grado ears I think sibilance might be harder to notice ), I know they tend to be on the brighter side. Good to hear they're well rounded even before the burn in. I'll have some comments up too when they come in (hopefully next week).

Great to see another head-fier getting a Signature Pro, and like it
The Signature Pro IMO sounded pretty good when it's just out of the box
well to most of Ultrasone's HP, it's a warm one, but IMO Signature Pro is not a warm HP, it's slightly cold and
not too bright compare to other Ultrasone HP

Well then, if its not to cold and not to bright then it must be just right...lol, couldnt resist.  Whatever we choose to label it as its still one hell of a hp.

its quite hard to tell- -, at least its not warm as 600/650, and bright and cold as ED8
mine is changing through burn-in, will tell you more after fully burn-in

Havent heard the ED8 myself so cant really comment same goes for the 650, having said that however I am a firm beleiver in burn in and I agree there are probably slight changes on the horizon.  IMO its always a good sign when a hp "smiles" back at you right out of the box.

This is my first post on Head-Fi.org. I've been reading the forum for quite some time though.

It looks like the earpads are round (or very close to round) as opposed to the more or less rounded rectangle of the Ultrasone Edition 8. Is this correct?

Unfortunately headphone manufacturers seldom publish physical measurement except weight, but they are very useful to potential buyers.

I would like to ask one or more of the owners of the Ultrasone Signature PRO to take a few measurements (preferably in millimeters):
  1. Earpad: Outer diameter
  2. Earpad hole: Inner diameter
  3. Depth useful for the ear: Earpads surface against the head <-> driverplate (front and back if the driverplate is angled)

If possible it would be extra nice if an owner of both the Ultrasone Signature PRO and Ultrasone Edition 8 would take measurements of both headphones for comparisons.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Harsher than the SRH940? Yikes.

Your experience is definitely the exception.

I found it harsh as well, though I didn't have a prolonged listening session, and it was straight of an ipone and then with a fio.
