Sounds terrible, not that I'd ever use custom cable for my 1000 & 600.

Hey Bokyung in your opinion is the EX1000 worth the upgrade from a 600? Some people say the difference is night and day and others say there's maybe a 10% difference between the two.

I don't know who's saying the difference is "night and day." The EX1000 is better than the EX600 but it's honestly not a very big gap. The EX1000 has better clarity(believe it or not), is more resolving, and has a soundstage that projects slightly more forward. I'd also say it's a bit less prone to harshness.

I'd say if you're in love with the sig it's worth the upgrade.

l do have both and would say the difference is more like night and mid-afternoon. l think the 600 is really good but the 1000 (along with a few others) is right at that spot where performance gains start to level out and price starts to shoot up, making it a sort of IEM best buy. To significantly better the 1000, at least at this point of things, means moving up to the $1000 US range (AKG K3003 or Final audio or top tier customs), in my view.

I recall Joker said in his review the EX600 has about 90% of the EX1000. Well it's really hard to judge SQ difference in terms of %, but even for the 10% difference it's worth the upgrade when it comes to sound assuming you like the sound sig.

IMHO, the difference between 1000 and 600 is there but it's not a night and day. At one point or another you will hear the difference. For the price vs performance ratio, go for EX600. If you can spare extra 100 dollars or so then go for 1000; you can't go wrong either way to be honest.

I honestly felt that 1000 sounded like more refined version of 600.

I use EX1000 at home, and EX600 for portable use since I can't justify myself bringing such an expensive equipment outside haha.

My EX600 cable broke and Sony is sending me 2nd pair of replacement in 3 months. I am surprised the cable gave up so quickly. I hardly used it since I had the IE80.

There are people that would be interested in your broken cable to use the connectors to make a custom cable. If the connectors are still in tact, you should post a classified to give it away or sell dirt cheap.

I have to send everything back to Sony to get a pair of new EX600 under warranty.

Edit: The Sony service center told me they don't fix cable for EX600, and they just send a replacement for the whole thing.

Hey, guys!

It's always a daunting task to find good IEMs quality and price wise. However, I'm really interested in EX600 and have some questions which need to answered before I finally make up my mind.

1. How these IEMs fare when it comes to sport? For example, jogging or working out in the gym. Is the fit comfortable and firm? I'm also wondering if it's a good idea to do sport with IEMs as you're sweating a lot and may damage your IEMs. Anyone has experience with it?
2. In addition to the first question, I'd like to know what's the level of isolation. I have read that isolation is not the strongest side of these IEMs. Anyway, I prefer a little bit outside noise coming through as I plan to use EX600 walking on a street, in a metro, train, plane, etc. In these situations I prefer to be aware of the surroundings, but by not too much as I still want to enjoy the music. Anyone can comment on this?
3. What about mighty bass? Is it really lacking as some people stay? Is it enough for electronic music? For instance, downtempo house. Don't really care about trance.

Thanks!

what actually surprises me is that Sony are replacing them...:p

Actually mind my ignorance:
How do the EX600 and 1000 compare with the EX500/510's & 700's?

Just gotten the EX510's in for my co-worker, and they remind me what I loved in the EX500's...!

Are here any EX600 owners who're willing to answer these questions?

P.S. I guess that these questions were probably answered in this thread, but currently I lack time to check all these pages.. ==

1.  Don't know
2.  The isolation is poor, this makes it good for what you describe, I can use this at home and hear if my wife is calling for me or if one of the kids needs my attention, not as poor as a half ear design such as the PS210 which is my favorite IEM for at home listening due to poor isolation.
3.  The bass is tight and accurate, pleasent for downtempo and house, but it depends what you have heard and are used to hearing.  If you come from an Etymotic type sound the bass will suit you just fine, if you are coming from skull candy or anything marketed as having XTRA BASS!!!! then you will find them lacking.  I use them for mostly classical, some ambient and downtempo.
