How do you feel the National improves the M50's sound? Every where I read, it says the M50's don't require an amp.. Don't think that makes me not still want one though. ;)

They are some seriously stylish cans.

haha, nice you must have added this picture later.  How is the vita coming along now?  I sold mine after a couple of days.  The sound was really good like the PSP (both Wolfson DACs).  I really enjoy listening to music on my PSP + E17 and using the music visualizer.  I was gonna record a video and post it.  Does the Vita have cool visualizers?  Have they come out with a good way to organize music and transfer yet?  FYI the $20 official dock has line out audio.

I've been wondering how they sound myself as I'm still looking for a decent portable and they are super sexy.

Get the dual lock stuff that everyone seems to use.

This is actually an identical rig to what I'll be using once my M80s arrive, aside the iPod being a DIY iMod =P

I use low profile dual lock, dirt cheap off Amazon and only creates about 3mm of height. It still fits nicely in a jeans pocket.

I also have the E17, which from what I've read is quite similar to the E11 in terms of amping, and the C421 is a significant step up from that. I haven't done any dedicated A/B testing (And can't until my M80s are delivered or my customs get back from being repaired), but from the brief comparisons I have made, the C421 is a lot better in terms of overall clarity, and the bass boost sounds a lot better to my ears than that of the E17. I'm very new to high end audio, but to my ears there's a marked improvement.

Seen here with my 5g iPod Video (120gb hard drive), Fiio L3 LOD, and Fiio E11 amp. Very happy with this setup.

does that fancy LOD cable make a sound difference to you over say the Fiio L9?
