Before you sell your Lyr, try rolling in a pair of Mullard CV 2493/2492 for a slightly deeper "meatier" sound.

lolz....well...check a darkv 33..couch..couch...lafi 33..couch couch....ly..couch couch...decwa couch couch .... i cant say those names outloud here..or else i could be cruzified biggrin.gif

or try the emotiva...yep..that name i can mention without being dismembered or something like that.... wink.gif

but in my opinion....and i am probably opening a BIG can of worms here again: pls invest some good money on ur amp and dac and use high quality lossless music (flac, wav,  sacd etc.).... the he500 needs a good amp and sources...and it deserves it!!! its a wonderfull can!!..and it will shine when u do!...

and am also not talking about multi watts of amping here!..as the headphone amp which was specificaly designed for the most powerhungry headphone at this moment, he6, Hifiman own EF6, 'only'  has 5 watts at 50ohm (1600 usd!)...so any more  watts would be overkill. they make those 2 headphones..so i guess they know best what amping is sufficient to drive their headphones to their limits of soundquality... hifman isnt the brand to overprice their products...so if u have to pay premium for a EF6 acording to hifiman then i guess u have to pay premium to get the utmost out of ur he6....or ur he500...the he500 'only' needs 1 watt at 50 ohm to sound on its best...

but as i said before...power is nothiing without control..some amps deliver huge amount of watts and cost almost nothing...that low price has to come somewhere..no one sells products without profit... for me..i prefer detail and warmth above big bass..something those big power budget amps deliver...and people who want that i respect completely...and i also know people dont have multi 1000 usd to spend on their rig..and i also know that some 'high end' priced components dont deserve the name high end...

most of the 'negatives' which is mentioned here about the he500 dont exist on my rig...okay except for a bit lesser soundstage compared to a hd800 or the audezes (mr. fang angled drivers and angled connectors pls! biggrin.gif).... for me the he500 is a very balanced headphone...

...i have to admit..when i got the he500 at first...it wasnt really what i expected for 700euro...but it only really became to shine when i got my new (tung sol 5998) tubes and my new cables (power and headphone)..

GUYS and GIRLS....this could be an endgame rig for many of us music listening lovers...but for some (like me) its a starting point to the bleeding wallet and u spending a huge amount of money for a better rig. so be careful for what ur getting in... very_evil_smiley.gif

but most important..in the end...its all about personal taste, ur budget and how far u wanna go to get the best ur headphone can deliver u...

I've been very happy with my HE-500 and Violectric V200/V800.  I thought it might be my end-game rig - certainly felt like it should have been considering how much money I spent.

But now I'm getting an LCD-3 and a Decware Taboo MKIII.  Oops!

You'll be okay. Just give some time for your head to burn in with the vacuum feel of the ear cups. I presume you have heard either the LCD-2 or LCD-3 before this?

Hey just curious. What other amps have you compared the 337 to? Have you ever tried any speaker taps?

As for EF-6 being the ceiling for the Hifimans, it's not just 5 Watts, but 5 Watts of Class A power not AB and that's at 50R. Plus Fang himself was driving the HE-6 from 80 Watt Speaker taps when he first debuted the headphone to the world (or maybe 100 Watts? can't remember). So now that he has his own branded amp, he's obviously going to push it hard on the community. I'm not saying 1 Watt isn't enough, but it can certainly can sound better with a little more power like maybe like 12 Watts.... that's all, just little more power. LOL

Wow dude, that was a cold move.

Darn, I love the voice of the gal from Emotiva who just called me to confirm shipping address.biggrin.gif

I am doing this out of curiosity just to see how much of an improvement the Mini-x will be in comparison to the little Fiio E9K.

I tried the HE500 on a pretty powerful audio-gd yesterday but wasn't impressed.  If the Mini-X turns out to be good, it will be a $200 saving from not gettin the Lyr.

Let's wait and see ...

LOL English certainly is a confusing language. No biggie, as always, just teasing beerchug.gif

Emotiva does come with a massage function. It has a patented 20 Hz sub-chiropractic massager built into it :)

Regarding blue circle audio products, I haven't heard any of them. In fact, I don't ever remember seeing them yet in any stores.

Speaking of Canada, anyone here know where you can try out Resonnessence Labs products here. I see that the company is Canadian but can't find a local dealer. Is it website only or what? I'd love to try out the Concero myself, if possible.

Yes i did compared my 337 to other headphone amps.....decware,shiit, burson, matrix, violectric, wooaudio, bottlehead, musical fidelity

But never used any speaker amp on my he500 as i didnt find it nessesary...i drive my he500 at 21:00 o'clock max...and from around 23:00 thesound gets so loud its almost unbearable so high is the amount of dB's its pumps out then..and its totally clear and clean!!! No clipping whatsoever..just clean lows, perfectly mids and those velvetly highs..u just cant deny loving them..but as i said..i will try one of those socalled magicial emotiva's on the london meet in oktober..i am really curious if it stacks upto my 337... And i invite everyone to try it..as i believe deeply in the soundquality of my 337 in combo with the he500...and i said before..i am not only one who says it...EVERYONE..and some of them are guitar playing metallica musicians and one plays thepiano really well..and even them..being very difficult in their opinions and have DIFFERENT priorities concerning music loved the rig i have...

But asi said..i dont need to brag or attack anyone to proof this...i will show it personally on that meet...and i stand my opinion..power is not holy...

And i know my 337 is not the last word in amping..its a budget amp also..after all..sort of... I only find it sad that so many 'budget amps owning people feel attacked that other amps could be better then the so hyped up amps they own..am not saying they are bad...some of those budget amps do a remarkeable deed....i owned one in the past for 2 years..the matrix mstage..i still think its a killer in discuise for the money..

But i will ask u back...did u ever ever try a powerfull quality tube amp?..of the likes of decware taboo, darkvoice 337, bottlehead crack, lafigaro 339 or cavalli glass...for sure u cant honestly believe a decware or cavalli be worse then a emotiva on a he500?
Or ss amps of the like of violectric v200, musical fidelity, burson etc.

So pls...before u try to confront me with those kind of questions (by the way that question was asked me many times already in the past by certain o2 and lyr owners..so i am customed to it biggrin.gif)
..pls do ur homework... I never listened to the emotiva,.thats why i am not saying its better or worse... But seeing how much u try to discredit me i will listen to one in oktober..and i never forget! I still believe..no matter how good the e100 can be..emotiva had to cut corners somewhere to sell itfor only 198...uknow it and i know it....

So i urge u to try one the the amps i mentioned first before trying to put me against the wall...if u believe the emotiva is the holy grail for the he500..so be it..but i think ur missing out..

I even wanna state that some vintage mcintosch and marantz speaker amps would sweep the floor with the emotiva..and thats a fact..no one has to proof that.. wink.gif

But no worries..i respect other person opinions..friends again? wink.gif

Actually, it can be. Especially since the grammar and such is made solely upon the spoken language, and therefore the rules and exceptions can be kinda weird. Danish on the other hand is most likely not understandable guteral sounds from the view of a foreigner. And when you actually start to understand the language it probably just get worse.. There are so many weird expressions and words that can mean the same thing or just doesn't make any sense.

Its okay..As uknow english is not even my second language..lolz.. i know u were teasing, we share same passion..so teasing is normal...as long we respect each other...i do the same....hehehehe biggrin.gif

Yeah i know..i by accident stumbled upon the brand here on headhi also.....as one of the most wellregarded headfi'er did a review on their standard headphone amp..and he was lyrical about it...and reading the reviews about their producst made me take the big expensive step..they are a peach to deal with...they answer promptly and correct on all my questions...andi have lots of them..lolz...its a very low profile company..but damn..their amps are super expensive..lolz..

Resonnessense? Never heard of them..i will google them..u made me curious. wink.gif
Peace!
