I think that was Lovehagen from Norway. I love my Whiplash cable but have not heard either of the variations of the new stock cable

I have been using a custom litz wire with cotton sleeve braided cable (similar to the Q although not as good looking) for a while now and I love it.  Very good detail, no coloration, tight/deep bass and it weighs about 1/10th what the old stock cable weighs.  I was going to try a custom silver wire like the current stock but I haven't read too many positive reviews with silver on the HE-500.  IMO they don't need to be any brighter.

That of course would be the sensible option. However being sensible requires so much patience! I noticed that someone referred to upgrading to the Q audio cable earlier in this thread as being '~filterless'. Just interested to see what peoples experiences have been.

My dad travels to China a lot and one of his assistants found a store in Beijing somewhere. I also remember them being from Tianjin on their website. I'll ask where he found them and post the link here if anyone is interested?

I'm planning on powering them with the Lehmann BCL I already have in my collection. Should have enough power to drive the HE-500.. Not sure how well these go with solid state amps?

Looks like Head-Direct is going to make a few head-fiers a happy bunch this Xmas!

For the sake of good order:
I use Q for Audeze and HiFiMAN. I can't rememeber staying the Q was "filterless". I think that was WA. I love the Q for it's comfort. It makes the headphones "wireless". :) ... and I can't complain when it comes to the sound either.

You're wrong there )

Received the headphone cable from Q today and hooked it to the HE-500s. Same experience on the HE-500 as the LCD-2 with the same cable: "~Filterless" sound.

My FedEx tracking was just updated to "On Vehicle for Delivery" 3 days from shipped to on it's way here! That's the good news.

My wife is making me wait until my birthday (13th) to open it...

Patience may be a virtue, it's just not one that I have.

Maybe look at canceling and order from head-direct? I was pretty impressed, from ordered Sunday to Saskatchewan Friday. Just wish I could listen this weekend but just getting ready to go up into the bush for a retreat with the Board of a music festival my wife and I are on.

Have to wait until Tuesday.

I've never understood HiFiMan's naming process. Some of the headphones have lower tiered names, while others have higher tiered names, yet are lower tiered. Wasn't the HE-500 originally called like the HE-6P or something like the HE-600??

Yes it was first introduced as HE-6P. They then changed the name at launch to HE-500 and later came out with the lower tier HE-300 so these 2 are the new lineup.

The original lineup was HE-5, HE-5LE, HE-6 and then again the lower tier HE-4.

Some say these are the best cans for the money right now. Will I like them if if love my D2000(for rock and jazz most of the time). Also, my only "amp" right now is Asus essence ST and I don't plan nor I have space on my desk for "real" amp.
What do you guys think? Worth to try 500's?
