You mean RE0? Well, then it doesn't seem crazy to me at all. I think RE0 is on par with e-Q5, which should be very close to GR10. In fact, I consider the latest version of RE0 (which sounds better to me than the original version) to be a top-tier IEM that can compete with any other great IEM I've heard. For $79, they are an epic steal - if Hifiman decides to raise the price to $300-$400, I would still consider buying them.

Well, I haven't heard the re0, but the re-zero I heard was nice if you don't like music to sound real. Like, if you think using the sharpen filter on a picture over and over again makes it better.

Isn't Anne Hathaway beautiful?
Now, this picture does look kinda cool in its own way, but it's not true to the original picture, or the actual person.
I thought the re-zero was interesting, but for anyone looking for what music actually was intended to sound like it won't be top-tier. For people who love the above pic of Anne, it might be the best earphone ever.

Also, the Re0 is known for falling apart and Fang ignoring people asking for replacements.

I haven't heard the eq5, but the eq7 sounds like and is mostly put together like a $300-400 earphone. The re-zero didn't and wasn't, I doubt the re0 would be either.

@ Kunlun, lol , Your cats ears are highly sensitive and great at weeding out those unnatural sounding iem's

Hey Luco, you're back!!! How is General Lee???

I know a girl from the south and her family has a tradition of naming boy children "Robert" or "Lee". Weird, huh?

I haven't heard RE-ZERO, but RE0 doesn't sound unnatural to me at all. In fact, it is the most neutral and transparent IEM I've heard to date. All other IEMs I tried are colored compared to RE0, even the ER4S. RE0 is in no way artificially sharp or bright IMO. Please be aware that I am talking about the new RE0 version however - it has a modified housing and sounds significantly better to my ears than the old RE0 version.

Got my 1964-T today.  Too bad I don't have my EX-1000 to compare with, but from what I remember, I think EX-1000 beats the customs in terms of SQ and sound stage.  I don't know how Sony does it with IEMs, sound stage is amazing.  Anybody willing to lend me theirs for a comparison?

^^ Yep, yep. Tis true. The difference in clarity and detail is quite remarkable, to me. And while quantity of bass is significantly more with the IE8, the quality of bass is much better on the EX1000.

I find it interesting that it's been suggested - though not by many - that the bass on the EX1000s may be a bit on the lean side. In my view the bass on the EX1000s is NOT lean at all and the quality is simply superb. It is the best best I've heard from any universal (and possibly even my custom ES3X).

While I really enjoyed he IE8s SQ, I find the EX1000 to be on a different level. However, if bass quantity is what one is looking for, definitely better go for the IE8s. I'm not someone who favours bass shy phones - I didn't like the CK10 or SE535 for their less than adequate bass response, in my view. I was ultimately not convinced by the W3's bass as it was somewhat bloated as well as having fatiguing treble. Yet somehow I did enjoy the UM3X, TF10 & IE8, three phones with plenty of bass, though I ultimately favoured the more balanced UM3X and also preferred the TF10s overall sound presentation over the IE8's.
