- Matrix M-Stage: very cheap here in China, and apparently based on an excellent Lehmann amp. However, I've heard that the performance falls significantly short of the Lehmann's, and it would be a sideways move rather than a step up from the LD.

I have the M-Stage, and while it's adequate, your Little Dot already does a much better job. It's workman like - everything is good, nothing great in its reproduction, and really, I didn't know the potential of my Senns until better amps came my way.

I find these headphones actually better than LCD-2 on Jazz.. Not because LCD lacks something but rather these are lacking something that emphasizes all the good things that I like in Jazz ^^

To all those of you using Cyber 20s - does your amp hum with the HD600s?

I've just taken delivery of my Cyber 20, and there is a slight low frequency hum (sounds like approx. 50 Hz, so probably AC-related) on both channels which becomes louder on the high impedance / gain setting (it doesn't change when the volume control is turned, and is almost inaudible on the low impedance setting). It is only annoying when there is no music playing. It can't be a ground loop, as unplugging all other equipment makes no difference.

I have subsequently read that this is not an isolated occurrence (both Cyber 20s and Cyber 30s have been known to hum, apparently), but no-one has posted an explanation as to why this is (or at least, I couldn't find the relevant post

).

Is this just to be expected on an amp of this type, or is it probably due to faulty tubes or a faulty PSU capacitor? I have ordered some NOS tubes and hope that this may help, as both of the stock output tubes are highly microphonic (one of them rings like a bell!). I also suspect that quality control on export products is more stringent than on those amps which are destined to stay here in China!

I would hate to have to pack it up and send it back to the dealer in Shenzhen, as the sound quality (even straight out of the box) is excellent for the price....

The senns may like the OTL amps like the Bottlehead crack more though because of the 300 ohm impedance. I know someone that sold their woo6 because the crack was just a better amp for his hd600s

OTL's like the Woo3 would be a good a good one as well.

Hey its you :) Do you think the woo3 can beat the crack if you already thought the 6 wasn't as good?

I haven't tried the Woo3.  I am sure that it would have it's distinct signature.  Actually, I really am eying on getting one either new or if it comes out used, even better. Before I got the 6, I only had the HD600 which is powered by the 6 beautifully.  When I got the DT880 600 ohms is when I felt that I should have gone for the 3. The 3 was really suggested for the DT880 being an OTL.  For the great price that I paid for the crack (stock), I surely am happy.  It is quiet. Last night I was listening to classical guitar (Andres Segovia) and the clarity and the chord changes are so crisp. I would also attribute this to the HRT streamer 2 which is a reasonably priced gear.  Of course, some setups would be greater but I felt that at a certain point, I have found my audio nirvana.  In addition, the CK2III that I recently got pushes the HD600 to great heights. In fact the seller mentioned that he again acquired the DT880 and wish he didn't sell it. Great DIY amp.  When I acquire the Woo3, I will let you know. I am sure that the Woo3 would stand on it's own but right now, with the STOCK CRACK...my smile is ear to ear.

Today I purchase a brand new pair of Sennheiser HD600 and I'm pleased by the sound, even after 4 hours of running in and with the stock cable... I will give them more time to settle down.

Congratulations on your purchase. If you love it now, wait for it to settle and you will be smiling from ear to ear.

If you don't mind me asking, who did you contact for the grilles? I have emailed Syntec whom I thought were the local distributor but have yet to receive a reply.

I suspect prices for the grilles are per each, which makes it quite a bit more than I'd like to pay for a cosmetic upgrade...

Really wish to post here :frowning2: Is a HD580 owner qualified as a member of the HD600 appreciation thread member?
