Unfortunately, whilst Hifiman make good headphones, their players are crap. Two i've come across that satisfy completely the definition of useless. Just don't work, turn on and off randomly, don't play music, don't recognise usb inputs....... don't do much at all. Maybe customers haven't raised these concerns with Hifiman, I don't know.
I'm sure fiio with their x3 won't make junk like the hifiman players.
My two Hifiman DAP actually works pretty well, but not perfect in everyway of course. Firmware is usually a very big issue on the Chinese DAP maker (which is what doomed the last X3 project). Hopefully it won't be an issue this time around.

Maybe people have different tolerances compared to me. My cowon has never shown any fault. Neither has my samsung sgs, or sansa fuze or philips go gear or some old sony walkman. Yes never, and I've used each easily over a thousand times. Hifiman daps- lucky to go seven times consecutively without a cockup. Never mind- mine could have been a dud or something though I doubt it given the terrible reputation these have with regards to the mp3 player working properly.

lol they erased my comment regarding the DX100. A poster made a comment pretty much saying that there are no reviews where the DX100 is considered better than the Hifiman 801, which is incorrect. Even during initial impressions there was a reviewer who found the DX100 a clear upgrade. That is even before burn in and the 1.1.7 firmware. There are more indications of this now as well.

December? I hope so,...only the new iriver dap is getting me stoked as of this moment. But TBH FiiO would get my money before iriver.

If the iriver's sq really is comparable to the other high-end daps, I see no reason to wait over half year for a FiiO that may not even hit the market. I take the iRiver, and it will be released in 2 days time in Korea.
Hope i can read some nice positive reviews about it.Price may still be $499-599, but we will see about that. Anyway the bulding quality of iRiver is awesome like the rest of their stuff.
