See, I was going to post a single word..."crap." There are better earbuds out there, certainly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

and the perception of beauty can be shifted by the surroundings...

Now, I agree that the 71s sound a bit less than mediocre on normal equipment, but partner it with Sony [portable] equipment that isn't implementing bass-boost (i.e. Sony '10' range) and they really do sound quite passable...

...So whilst, yes... on the most part i'll agree with those views above, if you're a bit of a Sony fanatic, and have some of their current to of the range portable products (from that '10' lineup) then you really might not find them all that bad

well i was thinking of using them on my computer. Somebody told they would be good, and some reviews mentioned they were great coming from a computer speaker system ( hooked up to the subwoofer or where the volume controls are ) also my budget is 35 maybe 40

Well if you're going to be using them at your computer, you'll probably benifit from some cans, and it doesn't really matter if they're not that portable. I'd go with the Sony MDR-D22SL's, you can get them from bluetin.com for £32 + Shipping and they sound heaps better than the EX71's or any other headphones under £40. They're also great for portable use as they fold up and they're actually quite tiny. When folded up, you can fit them in the palm of your hand. They also come with a short cord which is great if you want to use it with one of the MD style remotes, and it has an extension for when you want to use it with your PC/anything else.

The D22, or the PX100 Theresamarie1?

I'm assuming the D22s, seeing that the PX100s have only been out about a year... but some clarification would be great

Or maybe even the EX70s?

Sorry all, I was referring to the original post.

The EX71's are the ones I found very bass heavy. I returned them. But if someone were to want lots and lots of bass, these would be perfect. I have never heard the PX100s nor the D22's so can't comment on those two.
For inexpensive buds I'd say the MX500, which I have or a little more expensive, the ER-6s which I also have sound great.

IMO the D22s arnt that great at all....i would sure take a pair of px100 or px200 over D22s anyday

px100 are a little bassy for me..friend's px200 sounded a lot more balanced

o! and the ex71s.. like other had said..they didnt sound that bad with a little eq tweak on the n10, but on everything else they either sounded very un-musical and a little quite (not enough power), or they sounded dark and boomy..not the best earbuds..
u'll be better with mx500s
