That's a reference amplifier? The op amp is not to bad, but the rest of those parts Yikes!
Just goes to show that audiophile parts are not always needed.

In production quantity that amp would only cost a few dollars to build. No wonder Grado started potting them.

well if you charge them with a high enough voltage and then touch them...you can find yourself in direct contact with those relatives of yours .) (but i do thinkt those caps are to smal for that though)

Adam Madisound sell the Solen 5.0uF Caps for 2.75 each plus shipping, is a good starting point, those caps were one of the hardest parts to get, the rest is pretty easy....IIRC the exact 5.0uF value was not available the last time I checked some time ago.....

Try to keep the exact values as closer as posible, or you will end with a complete different sounding amp, if it sounds like that, is just becasue of the synergy of the few parts it has in it, as the rest is pretty cheap....try to be consequent with that, at least...

Maybe you use it, and you notice no change, but just an observation, they could use 4.7uF it is a more common value, and almost available in any line of capacitors, and for any unknown reason, they decided to use 5.0 instead, I don't know but given it is an extremely simple design, and sound good like that, why modifying it, IMO, is better do not modify anything if the right values are available, they are not well OK let be creative, but 5.0 is available right now and the same exact capacitor, Solen......so in your shoes I would use it....

According to the diagram I have always seen, is 5.0uF and Madisound has them, 5.1uF is not on the list, so I suppose it doesn't exists, in Solen, the brand they use, at least, they have the whole line, take a look here:
