FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Nuforce NE-700X earphones / IEM (non-mic version) - post your thoughts here

So I haven't really been on this forum for 2 years! Crazy XD. I thought I'd post here seeing as this thread is still alive and kicking and on topic.

Here was my dilemma back then if anyone can be bothered reading any of it http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/428032/shure-se210-s-not-sounding-as-good-as-expected

So I've put up with my overpriced impulse-bought Shure se210s for two years now, I was never fully content with them, the sound just isnt for me, I do get used to it when listening, but still its not the kind of sound I usually like.

A few days ago a little bit of cosmetic rubber fell off one of the Shures earbuds, so I warranted that as a chance to finally upgrade! :D

In my original thread someone mentioned the Nuforce 7m's which I could get off ebay for less than $100, then I realised that was 2 years ago and wondered if there's any upgrades - which clearly there are :)

So to conclude my unnecessarily long winded post - even though I'm pleased with the ne700X's reviews and going to buy them right now off Amazon for $90 -  I was wondering how these apparently awesome Nuforce in-ears compare with my underwhelming Shures?

Edit: Ok so I got upto the third page now and found this:

NE-700X vs Shure SE-210: The NE-700X has more bass, more treble and feels more alive. The Shures feels quite lame in comparing.

My question can still stand for anyone who'd like to respond. My NE700x's are coming in 2 weeks! I can't wait!

I noticed some people have bought the Comply T-400 tips for their NE-700X buds and seem to like them.  On Comply's website though they don't show the 400's in the compatibility list, but the 200's.  Does anyone know the difference between these and does anyone ever buy the ones with the wax guard?

As far as I'm aware the T-200 have a smaller inside diameter than the T-400, so the T-200 will be a tighter fit on the NE-700. But the T-400 are not a loose fit and work fine for me as I had them in stock already as that's what I used with my NE-6.

As commented on in a previous post, I also find the Comply tips to offer greater isolation and much smoother and deeper frequency response.

As for sound quality of the NE-700X compared to the NE-6, with the NE-6 I used the Rockbox eq to my own setting. With the NE-700X I don't need to use the eq at all. Strangely though, for the 700X I need to have the balance setting at +1 or +2 for the right channel. It's no hassle, but does show that, in my pair anyway, the drivers may not be well matched in sensitivity.

Build quality with the NE700 is far superior though - my NE6's were held together with a lot of Araldite - and that was before the Dyson ate them

Any thing that fits the T400 shouldn't have a problem with T200, but the reverse might not always be true because T400 is a hair larger in diameter than T200. Thus T400 can be a little loose on some IEM that require T200 (but T200 can stretch to T400 size with a slightly tighter fit). If you are going for Comply, get the new Ts series as they have the least sound absorption compared to T or Tx series, and easier to insert to the ear canal.

I've gotten mine a few days ago and i'm a happy camper. One thing though, the right earphone sounds softer or the left is too loud. It's not really bad but i feel like the sound is coming from my left brain, literally. Would they equal out after burn-in or should i just get replacements?

Assuming that the opening on the right is not plugged-up or squished closed when it goes in your ear, I don't suspect that the imbalance will improve with burn-in.  Try different tips and try swapping the IEM to the opposite ears, and if the softer sound moves with the right ear-piece then it may need to be replaced if 24 hours of burn-in with moderate volume music doesn't help.

:D got my set last week Friday, they're AMAZING!! everything I'd hoped for. At first I thought the treble sounded a bit weak, but I've gotten used to it - its not so harsh, its just nice.

I didn't think it was possible but I'm hearing even MORE details in my music than ever before - I guess my previous previous CX300s weren't as good as I thought they were at the time?
It's probably because these in-ears seem to have a really decent separation between instruments, everything can be heard where I think the Shures mashed things together a bit? Or were just overall crap haha.

The people who say these don't have enough bass are expecting too much - these have a really good amount of bass but it doesn't overpower the mids n treble etc etc

My only gripe is that even with the smallest silicon tip, my inears slowly slip out after a while, but not all the time, I dunno, should be right eventually.

All in all, I'm a very happy camper :) my life will now be bliss - also it means I'll need to listen to my entire collection just to re-experience all the music in a new light :D

Now we have measurement to correlate to our listening experience.
One of the measurement tests: "IMD was the lowest I have ever measured for this type of product, and low IMD is critical to good sound. It means you get lots of detail and no smearing or muddiness in the sound, and that was exactly my experience. At $65, no wonder they are a best-seller on Amazon"

I spent some time the other at day, at another member's request, with my 6G iPod Nano - I do think these pair well with the 6G Nano and offer good synergy with the pairing.

Can anyone comment on the fit? After ordering, I noticed that the buds on the NE-700X are slightly shorter than the NE-6. In order to get the NE-6 to seal, I have to use biflanges or Complys and insert them with the cord facing upwards so the plastic strain relief won't prevent it from going in deep enough. This way the cord just barely clears my ear canal enough to fit, so I'm concerned that the NE-700X are short enough that they won't seal for me. That would be beyond frustrating - I was really looking forward to hearing these and nothing's worse than having a great new pair of earphones that won't stay sealed for more than ten minutes at a time.

NE-700X is longer than NE-6, but everyone's ears are different. I guess you just have to give it a try. We offer free shipping and 100% refund.
