Fit is the weakness of these plugs, plain sucks. A pair of aftermarket double flange gels solved that problem for me more-less but not perfect.
As for headphone amp, iBasso T3 all the way.
I'm not sure what is price range you would consider. Under $200 definitely yes, over that you might have better options.

So I'm thinking about asking for a pair of Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 Noise Isolating Earphones for Christmas this year and had a few questions for people who have used them.

1. How is the fit of the headphones?
2. Would I need or would you suggest using a headphone amp for them?
3. Are they worth the price? I am looking for some high end IEM's and these are the ones that looked best for me.

Does anyone know if there's a real difference between the white-blue box version and the black 'gift box' one? I've just bought my own pair and came with the black box. Nice package and great earphones overall! :)

They are exactly the same IEM. Last year I received mine in the retail blue package, the ones I got this year came with the
wholesale package. The only minor difference I notice is the cable, the plug on the new ones are angled. Otherwise they look and sound the same, I don't notice any other difference at all.

Very useful & interesting post mate! Appreciate it. Plug is angled too on mine 'black box' TF10s

Also, if you can hunt down a pair of after-market double flange gels as shown on the picture below, you can increase the bass response on these plugs double fold without compromising the awesome high range. They rival the Sennheiser IE-8 if you get decent seal. For sound source I would recommend the iBasso T3 also shown on the picture for those who use an ipod.

Thanks for the info once again!

I do use an Ipod combined  with a 99% copper LOD.My amp is the iBasso T3(what a coincidence!) and the result is amazing indeed! It's certainly above any expectation I had before trying this combo!

Regarding the tips,I was considering buying the Sony hybrids as -from what I've seen- many users recommend them. Nevertheless I prefer the double flanges because I've been using them with Altec Lansing's UHP306 & Fischer Audio Eterna.Guess I have to reconsider my thoughts and buy a double flange pair.

For the time being, I use the small comply foam tips provided with the TF10s and I get a pretty good fit.I think it's a much better fit than the one with the pair of flanges TFs had right out of the box. It's worth the mentioning that I wear them over the ear. Generally,-if I push the monitors from time to time into my ears- I enjoy the controlled and warm amount of bass coming out from the TF10s :)

I tried them with just about any single flange gels they can fit and they sound good as long as you get a tight seal. Even before I managed to get them airtight, I was already blown away by the level of details these plugs are capable to resolve. Initially I intended to get custom mold gels for them until I found the double flange universal ones I'm using now. Simply I could not believe the difference once I was able to fit them properly. The sound became more airy, similar to what the big monsters of HD-600s put out and the bass was incredible. I doubt I can find a pair of better universal IEMs for electronic music, as if these were specially made for it. I got my second pair as backup, I would hate to loose these. I can assure you you are in for audio Nirvana for a lifetime and you will re-listen your entire library. This gear is just plain awesome!
