what i did is listening for 10-20 min out of the box, and than i let them burn in for 2 days on my desk, not wearing them or listening, then i listened again for like 30 min and then burned them in again 50h and so on...

i wear glasses too, but they are far more glasses friendly than my hd650, especially around the ear where the frame holds on, no discomfort, no pain in that area, because of the lighter pressure, and i have really thin frame, 1 to 2 mm, but still makes my glasses align strangely on the nose... dont really know what kind of earpads shuld manufacturers invent to address this issues?

 
I'm letting them burn in now too, 1 hour in so far, so still a long way to go.
 
I don't have any pain issues with glasses, just that the pads and the glasses make a uneasy creaking noise/sound when I move my head, i.e. when the frame rubs on the pads. Really hard to explain in words but it's actually quite bothersome to me. Same reason I parted with the DT770 and HD 598 some time ago. I expected the T1 to be the same but still have some trouble getting used to it. I intended to opt for the T5p at first due to it having leather pads, but in the end I went for the T1 since I wanted a true flagship, with the best sound possible, not a portable one with compromises.

cracking sound? thats weird, kind of hard to imagine something like that happening, does having leather pads help?
 
the t1 pads are the easiest i have come across in therms of getting them on and of the chassis (for this wrapper type, like my akg k240 have too), i'm just wondering if the t5p erapads r compatible, one should be able to order a leather set easily i guess

S/N 9258 reporting in! Can someone tell me how *new* this is? It seems to have the later revision's headband too. 

Pairing it with the Asgard, my very first impression is, wow this thing is bright. But not overly bright at all, this much I can deal with, at least it doesn't sound thin and bassless like the HD800 I auditioned once, maybe the Nuforce UDAC 9 was too bright. Bass is good, it goes low but impact is not quite as much as the D7000. Details retrieval is at least as good as the Q701 if not better. Velour pads don't get along with my glasses as always, I'll try to get used to this, or get a new pair of glasses frame Not quite wowed yet, but very pleased so far.

I think the T1 will complement my D7000 very well. As a late X-Mas/new year present to myself I'm quite happy 

Also, how long should I be burning these guys in? I've always listened right out of box with my previous cans, even the Q701 seemed fine to me that way. But I'm curious how burn in may change the T1 since it's a flagship after all, hopefully the treble will settle down a bit.

Another d7000 and t1 pair owner!nice to see another. Too bad these things are so different in terms of amplification requirements

I'm aware of that as well, but I think the Asgard does a respectable job driving the T1. At 12 o'clock it starts to get loud so power isn't much of an issue. FWIR the T1 is not very amp picky so I went with it over the HD800 and some other cans.

Yup, the Asgard has enough juice for T1. Not on the level of more expensive amp though

The main difference between the Emotiva and the amp in my Aune is the Emotiva is more snappy with more bass slam which I quite like!

What is a good neutral SS amp that you would recommend? I prefer SS to tubes since I don't want to get into tube rolling, which I know I will if I get a tube amp. I want neutral so that it will work with all of my cans with varying sound signature, I don't want to have more than 1 amp for my desktop setup. 
 
I'd like to hear input from everyone else too. My budget should be around 4-500 bucks.

The Meier amps are a great option for SS. I'm more of a tube guy, but I love my Corda Jazz with the T1s. Jan Meier is also a big fan of the Beyer phones, especially the T1.

Kinda out of your intended budget though but try out the Burson Soloist. Tons of power, speed and detail without being sterile or lifeless.
 
As a bonus the Soloist also sounds awesome with my D2000 so perhaps your D7000 will enjoy it as well.

Yes, maybe saves up a little bit and get a Burson amps. It's a good pairing with the T1

I use the Amperex Pinched Waist *USA 6922 tube in my Decware CSP2+.
 
I have rolled most of the tubes listed in Joe's Tube lore and have found his comments to be spot on.
It is the best sounding 6dj8...etc.. tube as per Joe's tube lore.

Coming in a close 2nd would be the Lorenz Stuttgart PCC88 either 2 Mica or 3 Mica. 
 
Reason for my 1st choice?
1. Natural tone and timbre - I have a "ear" for music, used to play a musical instrument in my college days.
 
2. Warmth - Every digital DAC is "bright" sounding, this tube helps inject tube warmth.
BTW, many folks say that the T1 is bright, to my ears, it is only revealing the brightness of the digital DAC. So I don't consider the T1 to be bright.
 
3. Linear - Most tubes can have too much tubey warmth, i.e. distortion with a sonic veil.
The pinched waist tube is both sonically clear but warm at the same time.
It is one of the rare gems out there which has this correct (i.e. best sounding) combination.
 
Kinda reminds me of the famous Blue Mountain coffee.
The reason for the premium pricing is due to the fact that it has the aroma of the best coffee beans but without the bitter aftertaste found in 99% of other coffee types.

A couple things I'd like to say:
 
First, I tried dampening the cups of the T1 as has been suggested in another thread. I did this not because I found anything wrong with the T1; I was merely curious. Ultimately, I found the dampening to negatively impact the sound. It's kind of hard to articulate it exactly, but it's like the dampening makes the T1 sound  more forward, a little slower, reduces bass slam, and makes them sound less holographic.  For those of you who are wondering if it's worth the trouble to dampen them to "smooth them out" I say this: they don't need any "smoothing" and it's not worth the hassle (IMO). Perhaps try a tube preamp if you'd like more smoothness.
 
Second, on the topic of tubes, I decided to order a NOS Amperex 7308. I'll post some impressions when it comes in!

The  Bugle Boys are my favorite 6Dj8. If you get the right pair matched and selected for low noise your in for a treat. I bought mine from Parts Connection. I no longer own the T1 but tubes re really the best option for the T1 IMO and having them for a couple years I always liked them best with my CSP2.
