Hi all,

Been lurking for ages, but thought it was time to register.

Lost my SE310's a few weeks back, and finally come to terms with the fact I need to buy some more IEM's, even though cash is not exactly flowing at the mo.  Been looking around and the RE0's seem to fit the bill, the cost being a major factor, it's great you can get a pair of decent headphones so cheap.

From reading the reviews on here I also think I will like the sound characteristics, I have very eclectic music tastes, prefer things to be accurate, and only have high bit rate MP3's or flac files on my Irivier so source is not an issue.  Granted I have only ever owned one decent pair of headphones the SE310 (and the 4g's they warranty replaced), so I don't exactly know what type of sound I like but I think they are worth a punt.

Main question is, has anyone based in the UK who ordered some RE0's from head direct in the states, been charges import duty?  Can't find a UK supplier and have not got the funds to cover any extra than their cost at the mo.

thanks for looking :)

Cant speak for UK, but i have ordered RE0s and RE-Zeros to Australia and the packing slip only shows them as $15usd value and marked as "gift".
If you want accuracy and clarity you will get it with RE0s.
Whenever i try lesser IEMs all i hear is the flaws in SQ compared to the RE0s.

great stuff thanks for quick reply Paul, just the info I wanted.  Only ever been hit by import duty once for a replacement drive for my DAP and with the fees from the carrier for paying the duty it cost me a fortune.

Thanks again :)

Ive heard the re0s vastly improve with an amp.

Unless you are driving the RE0 with a pitiful power source, it does not "vastly" improve with an amp.  Depending on the amp, the amp can give them a fuller sound, but not vastly.

I have tried 4 different portable amps with my RE0 and the $25 Fiio E5 with it's bass boost does at least 90% of what more expensive amps can do. The bass boost position boosts the bass slightly, and cuts the highs a tiny bit (to make the bass boost seem more), which does give the RE0 a fuller sound.

The T3 gives the RE0 a fuller sound, a bit cleaner than the E5 obviously, but it does not give the RE0 a level of bass that is remarkable better than un-amped.

I haven't heard the RE0 with an expensive portable like the upper end iBasso or the Ray Samuels amps.

Just had a pair of re-zero's turn up - good news, no import duties to pay.

I completely agree.  I heard the RE0 with the ibasso D2 and with my slim, a good amp makes a difference.  But, again I am using the Fuze as my source, which isn't all that spectacular.  However, the slim performs well above the E5.

udac is a good option.  re0 and udac are both great bang for the buck.

The uDAC gives the RE0 a slight bass boost which is nice but it doesn't really do much else to improve on the RE0s shortcomings.  I prefer the pairing of the RE0 with the EF2.  I don't think the RE0 sounds bad out of the uDAC I just don't think it's a particularly great combo.

To my ears i find that my iphone 3gs is able to drive my RE0's audably at 3/4 volume but i find that the amp sounds strained and the sq is degraded (highs are somewhat muffled and bass does not have a dynamic sound to it). When i start amping with the 3gs as my source, the dynamics of the sound along with the sound quality increases vastly. Using my RA1 custom 18v amp it starts to sing and performs much better than my IE8 and my SE530 IMO. U get alot of SQ from a phone which punches at a class 2-3 (even 4 times) the price. I find that fullsize amps are able to drive these phones with authority and do sound amazing for their cost
