Senn. HD 600 vs. AKG K702 (Quick Overview)

Just saw this and yes it was a typo, I meant the HD650. My HD600 sound much brighter and livelier than the HD650 will ever sound.

Are you sure you're not accidentally thinking of the HD-650? Based on what i've heard from other people, some seem to use this description for the HD-650. I only heard the HD-650 a few years back, so I can't really remember them well. The HD-600 definitely doesn't have any sort of bloated bass to my ears. It's just about perfect.

I found the same thing most people have posted here regarding natural, balanced sound from the HD600 and the soundstage differences.  The K701/2 has a bigger soundstage, but the HD600 has a more 3D soundstage.  What I mean is that the K701/2 throws EVERYTHING far away, it's a distant wall of sound.  The HD600 can't put anything that far away, but there is more variation in distance.  I could see preferring either one, but I prefer 3D.

lol @ the comments about Eddie Vedder's uke sounding like a plastic toy with the K702.  Haha, I agree, and I can't wait for the fanboys to load their shotguns

Haven't heard the HD600, but the K-702 soundstage is FULL 3D. Everything seems to come from a certain direction, on my HA-160 and I find NOTHING FAKE about the SS.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. When I got to try the HA-160 a few weeks back with my T1s (not my favourite pairing), the owner did have a K701 on hand and they still lacked the front to back sound stage...they just had the left to right.

i want the hd600s because they are only 250 shipped right now.  do you know their sound stage quality vs the ad700?  i have the ad700 and i am wondering if it is even worth upgrading to the hd600s.  i originally wanted the hd650's but they are out of my budget and someone said the 600 vs 650 isn't enough to justify the price, same thing with 555 and 595.  anyways, i love the way the hd650s look, but thats really the least important thing.  i mean i have the ad700 so looks arent that important to me.  how much of amplifier do i need to power the 600s.  thats what is keeping me away from getting good phones because of the cost of the amp to drive them.

I read this and I have to add.
I have the hd600 and akg702 both in front of me right now and I am switching back and forth constantly trying to see which musical instramental sounds sound better in which can.  I am listening to trance, rock, classical, and ambiant generas. I am a big audiophile and I have to say the akg 702 sound quality is far superior to the hd 600.  The akg even handles high valume perfectly while the hd virbrate and start to hurt my ear.  The hd has a tiny bit more bass which I like but quality of musical instraments is more important to me than a tiny tiny bit more bass.  The hd did have a warmer sound to it.  Someone posted saying that the sound on the hd is right close to your ears and the akg sounds farther away but still close.  Perfectly described. The hd was far too close.  Now I am returning the hd 600 and keeping the akg 702.

But hey, everyones ears are different. Just buy both and find out for yourself, then return one.

The K-702 always was superior to the hd 600...and the 600's sound stage is in your head type, and not 3D was many still confusing.
