I suspect the cable. Shouldn't be that amp dependent I suppose. Might have a chance to figure this out at the up coming Denver meet ( if there will be a LCD2 there and if I can find the place).

There WILL be an LCD-2 at the Denver meet for sure.  I might even be able to share a room at the hotel if you PM me about it.  I'm going to call there tomorrow to get a room, but for Friday night only.

I saw that hugh red DIY amp on the table near the door, but didn't have a chance to try it before it was gone. I missed the Beta22 too......

Every headphone is amp dependent, but the LCD-2 is easily the most revealing headphone I have heard. So it should be fairly evident t pick out idiosyncrasies between amps. Did you try listening to it with the Stacker 2 at the meet?

I see many people who triead with different cables say they improve much. I sent an email to audeze asking them if they'd realease some better cable, maybe silver plated kind. They said they don't plan to do it. Maybe, if more people "insist" by sending them emails, they'll change idea. Anyway, i just hope they read about people opinions about how they improve with better cables. The problem is that better cables from other manufacturers cost way too much. While hifiman offers silver plated cables for only 25$, and most people say the improvement is very noticeable.

It makes room for guys like me to start a side business selling LCD-2 cables for a reasonable price :D .... I am tempted to do it.  I hate those companies that charge waaay too much for cables.  Still waiting for my LCD-2's of course to test the plethora of cables I made for them, I want to find something that is cheaper and "sounds" the same as the popular Jena Labs stuff and others... etc.  There are plenty of sources to get nice cable for good prices in bulk.

Eheh. Indeed cables cost very little to the producer (raw silver cable is not as expensive as commercial cable producers make us believe).
I built the cables for my speakers, but they're not very resistant. I mean, the cables for my speakers stand still on the desk, but for headphones i need very strong cables.

-- great bass and very nice textures, but it gave me a slight "boomy" feel from time to time. This showed up more often with the Phonitor than with the P1U. Keep in mind my dynamic phones are the Beyer 990/600, I don't suppose I am overly allergic to heavy bass ( btw I like bass of all kinds, small mouth, large mouth, wiper, sea bass.... don't care about trout and salmons though ). The slight boominess, when it happened, was similar to the kind from my 990/600, but to a much less degree.

Please elaborate.  Is it 'fishy' because it contains criticism of the LCD-2?

It was in reference to the above comments in bold, if I'm not mistaken

I also have not noticed any graininess at all from the LCD-2.  But I have not tried it with either of the amps AudioCats used.  Definitely no graininess at all when used with the Leben, though.

No, "fishy" because he was talking about all those fish.

Yup, that was the Stacker.  Too bad you didn't get a chance to listen to it, since I think the Stacker lends itself to the one of the strengths of the LCD-2's in it's mids and general tone.  The Beta22 also sounded very good with the LCD-2.  On the other hand, I didn't particularly have a good time with the P1U at the meet.  I was mostly auditioning equipment with a song called "Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari" by supercell, which has a really loud piano run from very high to low right after a lot of drums.  I was A/B'ing the T1 and the LCD-2 on that passage, and there was a harsh brightness to the LCD-2 that I don't normally hear.  The T1, on the other hand, went so bright that I almost pulled the phones off my head.  Not saying the amp is bad, but it really didn't like that particular piece.  Conversely, the same passage sounded fine as far as the treble on the Peak, as well as the Bottlehead custom I listened to.  IMO because the response of the 'phones are pretty even, there's nothing to hide any peaks or challenges either in the source material or the signal chain.  Whether this is a good thing or not depends on your perspective and what you want.

If you want to listen to the LCD-2's in a quieter non-meet setting or want to try some other rigs with it, shoot me a PM.  Unfortunately, the Stacker is under the weather right now, but it still may be worth it to listen to the headphones without the background noise.

the LCD2, on either set up, didn't give me enough of the "live" feel.

I switched back to my Jade set up (in the same room) and got the "there" feel back.

I hoped that vocals "live" feel will be one of the most strength side of LCD-2. So this is an opinion what I didn't want to hear/come. I hope that LCD-2 is really amp dependent.
I am just deciding between these two headphone, without listen it is hard.

Every headphone is "amp" dependent in this regard.
