What is your ultimate headphone listening experience?

one 'ultimate combination' I keep coming back to the last few weeks:

Dire Straits - Alchemy Live - Once upon a time in the west
as heard on:
macmini - itunes/ALAC - hiface - vda2/vac1 - srm-t1w - 4070

only hardware variation lately is just switching 4070 and SR-404LE, love the brutal honesty of the 4070

I also accidentally put on 'dark side of the moon' yesterday, didn't really have time for it but just sat and listened to it all... great stuff.

I had numerous moments when I went wow...

Lately my newly acquired Panasonic RP-HTX7 connected to my Yamaha MA 10 (extra treble 7/10) connected to my Laptop playing music from Mediamonky on 100% volume + Neutral equalizer + 10db wowed me with 'Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy' and 'Nighttrain' by Guns N'Roses in 320 kbps WMAs. It was nearly as good as the Sony MDR V6, oh yeah

.

'Tubular Bells' by Mike Oldfield in FLAC, same headphone and set up sounds really good now, the gamble paid off.

Mmm.. I can only imagine. Great tune, that one. Heard a T1 not that long ago and it is wonderful indeed. I bet the combo with that amp and dac is fantastic.

These have all been great you all. Let's have a few more shall we?

"What is your ultimate headphone listening experience?"
Mine's was in 2016, the song was "Let it be" by The Beatles, the format was FLAC, my equipment was;

Cyrus CD6 CD player
Cyrus Linkport amplifier
Linn LK85 Power amplifier
Monster interconnects
Sennheiser HD700

It was the one and only time I had a true "outside of the head" listening experience with the HD700. Even though I knew the sound was coming from headphones (obviously), the sound seemed to be physically coming from the outside of my head and all around me. It really messed with my senses, in a good way of course, lol. Don't get mistaken, this experience was nothing like the 3d audio processing effects or binaural audio you get with software/apps on computers, tablets or phones, with such software/apps you can still tell that sound is trapped inside your head, whereas with this experience I had was like the real thing, true 360 degree audio. If I had to sum it up in one word I would say; Ghostly.
Other headphones I had at the time and used with that system included the AKG K712 and Denon AH-D5000. The AKG K712 sounded amazing with that system but the soundstage didn't quite reach out as far, it was more 2 dimensional and like it was hitting a wall - I could tell where it ended. Whereas the HD700 was just this 360 degree limitless expanse.
