Am I asking for too much?

I tried but no one really sells AD900s and they go fast.
So 310 cad for ad900s, is there anything better I can get for that amount of money that fit my needs? Or is that pretty good

You could also try for AD700. The AD900 are said to be an upgrade in almost every way, but since you are just starting out I am not sure if the upgrade is worth the money in this case. However, the AD700 are fairly bass shy, and probably not so good with dance/electronica. Maybe a Denon or Ultrasone may be better for you? I am not sure how big the different models soundstages are, but I'm sure other people with these phones could fill you in.

I was considering both but I heard for gameing they're not that good

I don't know if I'm spending too much for a starter headphone though, I just want something good for music and gameing, doesn't have to be really expensive just need it to be good

Sorry I can't be more helpful because I don't play many games where positioning is important, so my headphones are more geared toward music. However, there are a ton of good options out there that will be better than a headset. The problem is that many of them, like AKG K70x and Senn HD6xx require amping to get the most out of them. Maybe the AD900 would be good for you, but even though the bass is better than AD700 I don't know how much better. Keep in mind I haven't personally heard either one. To get a really good value for your dollar maybe look up some info on the JVC HA RX700 and 900.

Well I can find AD700s new for 99$ but the only thing is I heard they don't do well with dance and stuff like that, basically I kind of want to cap this at 300-325 without shipping, if I get the AD900s I can't return them which is the thing I'm worried about, anyone else have some suggestions?

Also if I get a headset for around 300 I'd have to find a pretty cheap amp/dac like around 50 at max :s

^bump

I'm gonna bump this because I'm curious if there's anything else out there that might fit this guy's needs...

What do you guys think about a V6/MDR-7506? Bass isn't bad, tolerably accurate, not too sloppy but I wouldn't call it crisp, it's cheap, a good starting place by my estimate. A little uncomfortable for long listening sessions depending on your ear size, in my opinion. Use to be a fan favorite a number of years ago, when I was still a teenager...
