Will the Sony ZX700 be a good upgrade to a pair of AKG K518LE? I looking to spend something close to 100 otherwise, any thought will be much appreciated

I've never heard the DNA but perhaps someone who mentioned trying it on the previous page can provide a comparison.
Hi,
I'm wondering how the Monster DNA compare to the V-Moda M80's in regards to comfort, isolation and of course sound quality. I mainly listen to modern music as in Pop,Hip Hop,Rock and sometimes electronic.

Looking to upgrade from the Ultrasone HFI-580 at some point this year. My budget will probably be in the $250-300 range - how do the higher end Ultrasones compare to the 580?

No clue - I've never heard the 580. The Ultrasone pro models (550, 650, 750, 900) just get bassier as you go up in model number.

Hi,
I am choosing between Grado sr60i and Creative aural live and Koss Portapro. I like listening to jazz (Eva Cassidy, Adelle etc), acoustic and pop at home. What would be the best for sound quality and naturalness of sound, I like an open airy musical sound.
Cheers
Steve.

For those genres I would go for the CAL!. It might not be open like the Koss and Grado but it has a good soundstage and will sound nice and rich with your music.

Does anyone know if the ES10 would need a good amp, or will they be fine driven by my Fiio E6?
Change is Good

Hey joker, have you ever tested the SRH940? I am still in the market for some portable cans with a similar sound sig to that of my Q701 and GR07... along with a detachable cable. I passed on the Q460 since you said it wasn't as good as the Denon HP700. I really hope the SRH940 fits my needs. From what I've read so far the x70x and SRH940 are very similar.
Or how about the SRH840?

The ES10 is not difficult to drive. Not sure if the E6 will help much - might be better to use it straight out of your portable (assuming it's a decent one) on the go and get a DAC for home use.

Nope, never heard the SRH940

Hi IjokerI,
Thanks man for your detailed posting, which by far is most informative I've seen so far.
By the way, what are your thoughts on soul by ludacris sl100/sl150?
cheers

rapper-phones are generally frowned upon here. However, I've heard the Soul Over ears, and while they aren't half bad, they still aren't worth the asking price.

I only heard the full-size one (SL300?) briefly and it sounded okay, but definitely not great. Not familiar with the on-ear ones.

Will you be writing up the Monoprice 8323? I have these headphones and would like to know how they stack up and what it would take to get a significant upgrade.
Yes. I have a pair - just need to get around to writing them up.
Unfortunately I haven't heard them out of a familiar source so I can't compare them to my old HD25.
