I'm not sure that is the case anymore. In fact, I'd say they have a similar % or at this stage, perhaps, JH are having more reported fit issues (both here and the JH5 thread). At first everyone here kept saying they had a great/ pperfect fit, and then a whole wave, and I mean quite a substantial number of people, have stated they haven't got a perfect fit.

Some, also, have stated they don't want to send them back for a re-fit due to possible long waiting times, while others have said they'll wait and see.

In the Westone ES3X thread -- the only Westone thread, really, where fit issues have been reported --, on the other hand most, if not all, people who've had fit issues have sent them back to Westone.

There's also the forum phenomenon of people with issues posting more than people without issues. Mine were perfect from the get-go, so I don't have as much to say. If you read the forums for, say, complex AV pre-amp/processors, almost all of the posts are from people with issues. When the devices just work you tend to move on.

But I do have one question for Qusp: Does your Lisa synergize well with the JH13? Any hiss issues? How's the gain? Right now I'm using a Pico DAC/amp, but I'm wondering if a Lisa would make an improvement.

I am not Qusp, but the Lisa III works very fine with the 13's. No hiss and plenty of smooth clean dynamics.

Like I said my left piece is perfect but my right piece isn't feeling like it's stretching my ear so I filed it down the obvious spot but it is still not feeling comfortable. There is obviously a major difference between left and right as far as comfort level is concerned. But this time I cannot microscopically pin point the problem area. I don't want to misrepresent my preblem to JH Audio to make it even worse (who's doing the work based my description with the existing ear impression).

I think the refit is for folks who has rather obvious issue but folks like me who is suffering from rather minute yet still uncomfortable enough to be substantially annoyed..well, the choice is rather questonable.

you guys complaining of bad fit; perhaps you should complain to your audiologist considering the JH13 are a direct copy of them. as has been said JH dont have your ear there to make sure it sits flush in your ear and fits perfectly ; all they have are the impressions you sent them; good or bad. I mean of course JH can be responsible for errors too, but mostly I think errors have a root in the quality of the impressions they have to work with.

the fact that JH will work with you to find the right fit, for a period of months for nothing, even though the problem may not lie in their workmanship is a pretty good deal IMO.

Exactly - take the JH13Pro to the audiologist who did your impressions and have them examine the fit for you - they can usually pinpoint the problem area and sometimes even fix it right there.

yeah actually that is agreed, for some reason there does seem to be a lot in the JH5 thread. I think you will find however that JH are producing FAR more IEMs (custom) than westone are at the moment, so it is hard to know how common the problems are. regardless it seem they have got the time down to a reasonable level now, so anyone wishing to send them back for adjustment, really has no reason to avoid it other than just not wanting to be without them

which I totally understand

My JH13Pro hiss less than my ES3X, and the stock opamps were not a problem with the ES3X. The main hissers have been the AD743 and AD746 opamps in it. I haven't put the stock opamps back in for ages.

Yup D10 stock opamp hiss is louder than the level i listen to music. Not sure about changing opamp. maybe it is not burned in yet since it is in a shop.

One last question to fellow head-fiers about the fitting issue before deciding the destiny of my jh13. Do you find an absolute comfort on both sides of ear pieces or do you feel a slight discomfort on either side sometimes but try to adjust yourself?

Really? I find no hissing problem for the D10 with the ES3X either. The OPA2350 opamp is very quite as well.

just tried the D10 stock and hiss is minimal, all the same 2350 is far superior in more areas than hiss, but i'm about to bite the bullet with 2141CA/EL8201 and modified dummies for even better/quieter SQ

I think i've almost spent as much on opamps and buffers as the D10 cost me at this point
