Sure, make a post in the meet forum or pm me.  If we run into room problems will figure something out.  I definitely want to listen to that beast for a while.  I sort of hope I don't love it.

Does anyone use a pelican case for the hd800, which model ?

I'm considering the model 1400, but unfortunately there's no promotion for this one (unlike 1300 & 1450, up to 30% ). Someone that take the plane  will bring me back the pelican case, so the 1450 might be too heavy ....

Or you might even consider an oversize model, big enough to hold other stuff as well and be your only carry-on. They have rollable versions like that.

Joining the party late..............having bought my pair a couple of days ago

Initial impressions of the HD800 out of the box are:-

Ruthlessly revealing of all upstream components and cables
Detail monsters
Extremely fast sounding
Excellent comfort
True audiophile's headphones

The HD800, at the moment on the stock cable are at the end of either:-

1. JRiver > HiFace 2 > Silver RCA > Violectric V800 (Copper power cord) > Silver/Gold RCA > Violectric V200 (Silver/Gold power cord)/Triad L3-LLP
2. JRiver > Bladius USB Dac > V200/Triad L3-LLP
3. iBasso DX100

I spent about 3 hours this morning swapping out $15K of cables around the components in trying to manage the sound signature of the HD800s. I think I have arrived at a juncture where I have tamed the trebles somewhat and have also allowed the bass to breathe, gaining more weight and texture with a better decay on notes.

One thing that really surprises me about the HD800, is it's ability to retrieve detail, particularly micro details. The same old cliche, "I really am hearing so much more from my music." This is compared to the LCD2 and HE500 both on custom $1K Silver/Gold cables. I still feel the trebles are too hot even in the above configuration and will listen more before deciding on which custom cable to purchase.

Having said that, the sound staging has not impressed me as much as I thought it would, after reading many reviews on the HD800, I thought the way it sound staged would be a game changer, but it is only sounding slightly larger than the HE500 which itself is only marginally better than the LCD2. I think I can improve that aspect when I purchase a cable for the HD800.

The portrayal of the mid range frequencies on the HD800 are truly mesmerizing. It sounds so alive and in tandem with it's ability to retrieve detail, realism in this FR is unmatched in my books. Both the LCD2 and HE500 sounds dull in comparison.

I can only foresee the HD800 improving over the coming days, weeks and months and believe it is truly deserving of it's flagship status. Will post more thoughts in the coming weeks. I am hoping to eventually run the HD800 balanced and have already set my sights on the Harmony Design Ear 909 with the Seiden 32LAC Ladder-Type 23-steps attenuator from Japan

1300: Same size as the LCD-2 case, but tapered.  And cheaper.

I added some of the Creatology modding foam to the sides.

yeah, I 've seen this "creatology  mod" before, but I prefer to have true foam on the side.
Also the height of 1300 case  seems bigger than needed .. ( I'm not sure the headphone would move less inside with the 1400's height though).
I've already purchased the 1400 model.

Currently enjoying some Radiohead, Jewel, Dire Straits and Ozzy from my brand-new ZDSE. Seems to be equally adept at different genres now that the Zana is in place-which I couldn't say when I was using my Dynalo. Source is currently an SBT>>Muse TDA1543x4 until my SA-1 shows up sometime this week.

I know most will say "What are you talking about!!" with this question

but do you think Fiio E17 will pump HD800 reasonably?

I am connecting it to my HD650 and it sounds better than I expected that I see no point in buying a better amp (other than tube amps)

I wonder if it will do something similar with the 800
