Alright, straight to the question.
I have just recently gotten myself a portable amp, and I intend to hook it up to my Ibasso D2 Boa. I heard things like Pre-amp and such, and the fact that the Ibasso doesn't have a line-out function, how should I configure my setup so the Ibasso's internal amp is turned into the preamp?

Thanks in advanced.

o_O Why would you double amp portable music and AFAIK you can not turn the d2 boa into a pre-amp, it’s a portable headphone amp with a usb DAC. Either connect it to your lappy's usb port and connect your headphones or you connect it to your DAP for on the go

It looks like the Secret is a headphone amp - is that correct? If so, why would you need/want the Boa in the signal chain?

A preamp has a line-level signal (with adjustable gain) that's routed to a power amp - typically to drive loudspeakers. Some headphones amps have the preamp function, which means they have a separate set of connectors (separate from the headphone jack) to route the signal to a power amp.

Your Boa doesn't appear to have this.

Running the headphone output from one amp to the line input of another would be double amping. Really no point to that.

I didn't realize the Boa has a DAC.

How does the sound quality with your chain compare to using the Boa alone?

You are double-amping with this chain (frowned upon by some), but plenty of head-fiers connect headphone outputs (e.g., from iPods) to external amps.

If the SQ is better with the new amp, stick with it and explore DAC with line out options at your leisure.

Maybe see what other say about optimal volume settings from the Boa.

As I am very reliant on my pc and laptop, even if I intend to get another source I'd probably needa grab myself something with USB input.
