hehe; yeah....

as far as the fit, no they arent as flush as before with comply, but dont stick out really, still stays within the confines of the ear. also while the colour thing is cool, I only really find it useful for identifying which is which, as you cant see them really at all when they are in your ears.

yeah, i know.. but its kinda like an OCD thing... just like i'd rather put on black tips than white.. even though they're exactly the same tips (sony hybrid for example)... im using the grey silicones, and i wish they were black.. lol

having two different colours is actually a good idea, since i always seem to spend a moment looking at one of the buds to see if it's L or R... if i did that, id probably do the classic blue and red.

I don't have the UM56 but have a custom sleeve that is more or less the same thing, made by a independent hearing aid custom molds lab here in Toronto. They're of good quality and is silicone, but they don't have those sticks that you can use to pull out the IEM's (and I don't really see the need as they slip out easy to me). Fits well with my SE530's and doesn't protude much out of my ear at all (just as much as any other sleeves). You slip it in from the bottom, turn it counter clockwise a bit, and voila, it locks in perfectly.

I initially got them in black but it was one of those slate-black colours and I was really dissatisfied with it... so when I got the refit I changed it to a clear, instead.

Anyone compare the UM56 with the ACS customs?

Either way, if they improve fit, isolation and comfort they're a winner. SQ is just a bonus.
Especially as now I get the dreaded -too small or too big problem with tips.
Either they fall out, or expand and push themselves out...lol.

Anyone having W3 or UM3X with um56 tips get much wider soundstage, like on par to IE8? I would seriously considering to order one if it can do that

get a grip fool. its UM56 and I got the retention ring (a feature for singers so they dont lose seal when they open their mouths wide) as I smoke cigarettes and I dont like to lose proper seal when I have one or eat. (in between refits as well)

Phew! I thought I was going to be taken to with a virtual baseball bat. I know we're all here to discuss the finer points (or even the more gnarly ones) of IEMs and headphones in earnest but I'd like to think that some attempt at levity (no matter how unfunny) might be tolerated. I really must get into the habit of using those 'emoticons' or whatever they're called. They're just so cute! Truth be told, I just want people to like me. That's why I joined this community. I really have no interest in headphones whatsoever.

Now where did he come from?

UM56 with W3 sit fairly flush with the ear and don't poke out:

The anomalies in sound caused by using the wrong tips seem to be leveled out with the UM56 tips on the Westone 3, so the bass/mids/treble sound more like how they should and more balanced. So, timbre and tone are more accurate, and detail is enhanced.

The level of performance is definitely lifted up higher - http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/w...ml#post5729098
