You should try this with the triflanges-cut-down-to-biflanges. You'll be amazed!
Way more bass puch, soundstage is HUGE (for IEM's) there is more seperation.

I Love It.

How do these compare to the IE8? I'm sure this has been asked a multitude of times, but can anyone put something concise into words?

Sennheiser IE8, Shure SE530
BASS: Amazing, Excellent
MIDS: Good, Amazing
HIGHS: Good, Good
Soundstage: Amazing, Excellent
Comfort: Excellent, Amazing
Isolation: Poor, Excellent

This is my opinion after hearing them both.

If I could have a SR225 in IEM form then I would be done with IEMs. I found the SR225 to be far more enjoyable to listen to than my E500

Kite7, I have found the Monster Turbines to have a very similar sound signature to Grados. Very surprising, but also very enjoyable (the Turbines reproduce distorted guitar just like the Grados).

Not what I was expecting, but now I have an option for the Grado sound in an IEM.

I enjoy the SE530s, especially after switching to the more comfortable black olives from the yellow foamies, but the Shure's signature mid-range doesn't always work with my broad music selection. Still excellent IEMs, and very comfortable.

Agree on Shure's treble rolloff, but nothing provides midrange like they do. Sometimes the mids are fatiguing, but if you need clarity, Shures are the reference.

I believe that is the first time I have seen someone say the mids can be fatiguing. Additional proof that we each experience the sound of IEMs in our own unique ways.

Great review. I'm craving so much for the Shure SE530. Too bad, from where I'm from, they cost about $600 (I swear I aint joking). The SE310s here are the same price as the SE530 in the US.

Guess I'll have to stick to my Shure E3Cs, which I'm pretty happy with, only thing being, they've grown too much into me now, its been 2 years since I've been using these.

It's ALIVE!!!

Nice necroing, but yeah, this is a great review. I like how the OP has since sold his Grados and is apparently letting the SE530s fly solo.

Yours came with the yellow foams?! I got mine recently, and it didn't have them. I had a box of the yellow foams from a prior purchase for use with my other Shures, but that's weird.
