Plastic on Image X10's is tearing... Help?

Mine have, against all logic, begun to tear on the opposite side of the curvature. It is a very small tear however, so I'm hoping to find something to reinforce them before it gets worse.

If you still have a warranty, I've heard that it does cover the tearing and that they have begun using a new plastic material that does not rip/tear.

If not, super glue would be your ... most efficient solution to the problem, perhaps not so cosmetically perfect though; personally I would have no problem with super gluing.

I had the exact same problem and a few others too... I'm on my third pair now having sent two pairs back. Anyway, they're pretty unhelpful on the Klipsch site in relation to this particular problem. I eventually had some custom sleeves done and my latest set have been fine - all the sound, a bit less comfort and slightly less noise attenuation, but worth it if they now last for a long time, because I love the way they sound.

nice :O I was thinking about making those myself, but the process is a bit complicated... and it would probably fail miserably.

I tried using rubber tape for a while and it worked reasonably well, but in the end the deterioration (in all cases) was down to the depth I was inserting the buds to within my ear canal - the stress relief was being bent back against its natural position. In one case it caused the splitting, and in the second case it caused the wiring to become faulty (intermittent breaks in sound). MyMemory replaced the buds both times though - fair play to them.

The customs were expensive to get done but I really enjoy the images for hip hop and rock music at work and it'll be well worth it over time I think. They're ACS moulds.
