Portable phones with the widest soundstage

Thanks LTUCCI1924 & neggy for the comments. I guess I don't consider either really portable though (see my sig). If the Grado line is portable, it seems nearly all phones are portable. Lets call them home/transportable. Any idea which has the largest soundstage which is also a little more portable?

HFI-650 has good soundstage,closed, has good isolation. folds up nicely, you could call em portable

How big is portable?

For *really* portable, non-canal-phones, the Koss KSC-35, & portapro and Sennheiser PX100 are pretty decent for soundstage.

I think that by their nature, canalphones tend to have small soundstages. With my etys, I can seem to get some decent imaging if i close my eyes and focus, but otherwise the stage is on the smaller side (definately don't take this to mean I don't love them). I am not sure about other models, but I would tend to think that they would be similar.

I like the Koss lineup in general as a portable can. Soundstage is quite good with the pads on.

Grado's (all the way up to RS-1's) do not have a wide soundstage. They may have other good qualities, but that one is not their forte'.

I agree, koss rocks. Grado's have no soundstage, even on my V2. I remember the Eggos/supermini combo had more soundstage.

I agree the D66's have a wide soundstage, but I think my 225's (which again I don't consider to be portable) have a wider one than the Koss 35's (going by memory as don't own them anymore).

In my experience I'd have to say the eggos have the widest (and its not even that wide) soundstages for portable headphones. Grado has a unique soundstage where it literally puts you ON the stage...an amazing trait for jazz music. With bowl pads it sounds slightly wide..probably one reason john grado uses them instead of flats, but still not wide enough.
