REVIEW: WESTONE 3, the ULTIMATE UNIVERSAL IEM vs everything else
Dec 1, 2008 at 12:57 PM Post #47 of 2,117
I betcha most of them enjoy clubbing music.

I don't understand why people at Jaben are complaining about the 'lack' of improvement. Westone had issues with manufacturing the damn IEMs. It's like waiting for a new Mercedes. If they don't have that ONE part needed, they'd have to wait. Even IF the new car they're making is a slight improvement over the older model. Some people these days think wait longer = more improvements. I wish I could just shove it in their heads that that type of thinking is not how things go. Yes. I do hope some jaben members are here reading this. Think before you talk. Complaining about marketing and announcing blablabla. It's like the Harry Potter movie being delayed til next year. The only hype something gets is when you know it's close to the release date. No such thing as a 2-year hype buildup. And no, I do not have the Westone 3's yet but I at least understand why it took two years for them to produce them.

Great review mate!! Yeah sure, it looked long, but once you start reading it that was no issue. Enjoy your new no.1 IEM's!

well said zephyr maybe a bit harsh, but I totally get where you're coming from. I really dont think westone is responsible for the hype surrounding them. do you really think a company would hold off releasing something for an extra year??? just to build up said product. I would think that the W3 would be more of a refined IEM no bass in ya face with this one. but more solid clean textured bass. not what the general public wants really. more of the audiophiles IEM. so a say take the naysayers with a grain of salt and pay more attention to the people that we have trusted for quality reviews here before. if HA says they are a giant killer,r abd the specs say yes to me, thnn its yes all round at my end.

Hiya! Have yours arrived yet? When are they due? You must be going crazy!
I'm planning on sitting down in a few hours to give mine a good listen, and I'm really organised with a playlist set up and everything!

Hey, where's the mega excited smiley????

Awesome review. Damn tempting now to spend more money I shouldn't be, specially as the fit of the TF10s, even with the AT tips I found here in Japan, still annoy me.

I have a question to those who already possess the W3. What happens when you adjust the Bass with EQ of your MP3player abit? is it still nice defined and deep. Sometimes i like my bass as a clear good and hard punch, can i get this with the W3?

Hey, where's the mega excited smiley????

Mine arrived on Friday, but we didn't back home until Saturday late late night (1am). Been listening to them today at work. I wanted to listen to the 3s for a while before posting any impressions. Don't worry, it's all big smiles!!

Actually, on my iPhone 3G, when I go back and forth between EQ off and Rock, I really don't hear that much of a different. That's interesting to me. The other EQ settings I can hear slight differences, but bass is always there.
