Westone 3 Impressions Thread

Well whenever I have a listen to the W3's, don't really feel the need for more clarity + other technical aspects. Just feels like a really natural listening experience

Bought a "like new" pair here on the FS thread and am enjoying them immensely. They are not the most technical, accurate, natural, blah blah blah.... But damn they are fun. Been playing some punk, hard rock, Zappa, old progressive and having a great time. I've dubbed them my "Angry Little Bastards." they aren't perfect, but they sure have an attitude.

Don't forget to play with different tips and at ear canal depths, which can change the sound dramatically.

Very true the westone 3 are very tip dependent that why I had mine reshelled to ciem.

I have pretty large canals - Westone/Shure style IEMs rarely fit me well. I am using the Orange cored foamies that came with them and get a great seal - but the sound tube is so small, when I pull them out of my ear, it doesn't look like much more than a pinhole. I will do some tip rolling - but they do sound great that way.

I went through something similar to that before I had them molded. I ended up with the triple flange tips and even though they were uncomfortable they we'd the tips that gave me the best seal.

The sound is much better with sweet mids and because of the better isolation I don't find the bass muddy anymore not its much more deeper with less boom. I'm planning on selling these for 120 as soon as I get my jh16.

Damn that sounds nice but it is 150 on inearmatter. With that money I can get a new pair of amperior. Choices....

It might not be a bad idea to hold on to them as a pair of "knock around" CIEMS for out and about - I have Inearz working on JH16, W4R and TF10 customs - I figure, just as I have a few flavors of universal, why not have a few CIEMs - as long as I don't have to hock my car!

I really like my Westone 3 - but it is one of the only Shure/Westone shaped IEMs that fit me well and seal completely with the included foamies - I don't think I will be making a custom out of it - detachable cables would be nice, but not a deal breaker.
