sony s739 vs s639

hi i was wondering if there was much difference between the sony s739 vs s639. i know the 739 has noise cancelling is that the only difference? how good is the noise cancelling and can i turn it off? i'm from australia and as far as i can tell the s700 series is the only one available. on a side note if anyone knows what is the best phone sq wise? thanks

The noise canceling feature can be turned off, but there's also a catch to using it. The ONLY way you can use it is if you use the IEM's that come w/the player itself (the S739). Wasted feature, and a wasted expense. Go w/the S639 and put the few $$$ towards a new set of REAL IEM's

lol i have a real set of iems shure se530s only problem is the s739 is the only model available in australia

Why is the 739 cheaper than the 639? The only difference I can find from the specs is that the 739 has noise canceling. This makes no logical sence to me. Can it be that there is some compromise with the nc?

From what Sony claims, and from what people have been verifying here on Head-Fi, the S63X series is the best sounding walkman they've ever made. Better in SQ than my A829, makes me jealous of all who manage to get it. Think that the fact it's the best, and has more features than most, Sony jacked the price a wee bit. I'd deal !!!

According to all who have used the both, the S63X series is the best yet. It supposedly sounds better than the S729 also, and doesn't have that useless noise canceling feature.

I couldn't tell the difference at all between my 808 and 639. In fact, I returned the 639 because it was exactly the same!! I prefer the warmer sounding 829 and the slightly bigger soundstage to both of the other models.
