This amp can get expensive after awhile. What's "wrong" with the stock tubes ?

I got mine used with non-stock tubes so I have no idea about the stock tubes.

raffy, this is your lucky day! Send me a PM w/ your mailing address and I will send you (for free) an NOS RCA clear top 12AU7.

All I ask is that if you do not like it in your setup you return it. If you like it you keep it.

How is that for a deal.

Note: The RCA box is not in the best of shape, but who care about the box.

Thanks again Miguel!

7316 update - this tube still sounds stunning, my first impressions still stay. The separation between instruments and vocals as well is just excellent. Vocals are nice and transparent.

The 7316 type was developed and only manufactured by Philips; and it was only made in Heerlen, Holland. It was also designed not as an audio tube, but an instrument/computer tube.

There're six variation/types of this tube, with the type code being Ctx. The different types range from Ct0 through Ct5. The Ct0 is a long plate construction, all the others have short plates. These short plate tubes also use different getter ring types, ranging from a large O in the earliest types, to a large D-/stirrup-shape, to a small o in the Ct5.

While other manufacturers may have labeled 12AU7s and 12AU7 subs and near subs as 7316, a "true" 7316 is of Heerlen origin only.
