Hi guys, I was wondering if you can pick the best headphones that meets these criteria ranked in order of priority:

1) Budget! I'm a student on a budget. Around $50 please.

2) Quality! I've owned countless headphones in my life. They all die because the cable wears through. I hear Senhiezer (sp) headphones have replaceable cables? Either way, I'm extremely capable with a soldering iron. If the headphones unscrew apart, I can replace the wiring myself.

3) Sound quality! I've lost some high frequency hearing so I need these headphones to be brighter than normal. I also mostly listen to pop-punk rock music with a heavy dose of bass guitar, so excellent bass response is a must as well.

I'd also prefer closed headphones, but this isn't as important as other factors.

I will mostly use them to listen to mp3's on my laptop or cassette's in my walkman. I plan to eventually get a mp3 player when funds allow.

Well, under $50 the Koss KSC 35 or Portapros are a good option or some used V6s

I'm very interested in the cable being replaceable. Can someone fill me in on what my options are? Do all headphones unscrew to allow you to replace the cable?

The Koss KSC 35 are the type that clip on your ears right? I find those very uncomfortable.

Then the PortaPros would be the best. But its cable, as with most others', is not replaceable. The only cables that are socketed that I know of are the Sennheiser line, the HD580, 590, and 600s. The lower-end models also have replaceable cords, but I'm not sure which ones specifically.

I know the Sennheiser 250DT has removeable cables too but they're out of budget even used.

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm pretty adept with tools, wiring, electronics, soldering, ect. If you guys know the SONY(or other brands) can be unscrewed apart to give access to where the wires are soldered to the speakers, that will also be fine with me.

Is there a particular brand/model that is known for having very durrable cables?

Also- closed headphones are prefered. Let me add that to my criteria.

The Sony MDR-V6 is your best option for ~$50 closed headphones. There's basically crap else. If you really want the best sound quality for a closed headphone you're going to have to go a lot higher than that, sorry.

Considering your budget and sources and everything, the V6's sound like they would work nicely for you.

Heh. Heheheh. Heheheheh. You go here: http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showt...threadid=33621

I don't know about the flat frequency thing because it's a studio monitor, but by all reports, the bass it can produce is nothing short of amazing.

Is the V6 same as the V600 ( http://electronics.cnet.com/electron...?tag=pdtl-list ) ?
