Skylab,
reminds us all correctly that Ultron and Hytron are Rebranders and not manufacturers. I think it is fun to have a six pack of "Ultrons" on the way from England. As I said- I was bored.
Best listening.

Yep, if you know what to look for you can find some gems among those rebranded tubes. I absolutely love my two Haltron branded 33S29B's I got for almost nothing. My favorite in the Zana.

Indeed! You just have to be able to spot Russian tubes, to avoid paying too much for those.

I'm going to have to re-examine all my driver tubes now.

Also good news .... the Brimar is working ! Had a contact problem after all. I'm back on the NU now.

Dont think you can use them on Zana, unless you may mod her or something.

Hmmm. I must have some more reading and research to do then. I guess there are different voltages or pin connections or something within the same 6SL7 tube family?

I've been looking all over, there doesn't seem to be a definitive guide to these tubes and their electrical differences, - at least as far as what will work with the Zana is concerned - besides this thread.

6SL7 and 6SU7 are the only tube you can use with Zana, but there are plenty of them up there, just search or read through this thread, where lots of differ valves been mentioned already.

Sure wish they'd call them something other than 6SL7 then. Seems like a sure way to blow something up if one isn't careful.

^^ They did. They called them 6SN7, not 6SL7.

They have a pretty box.

I'm too busy listening to the Philips, which are phenomenal. Making the Brimar sound like the Cossor, but the mix is so damn tight.

I will be with the Teles soon.

Just to clarify on the Sophia Electric website, they specifically state that they offer both 6SN7 *and* 6SL7 tube, although only the 6SN7 is pictured.

From their site:

Quote:

Sophia Electric™ Premium 6SN7/6SL7 Tubes

6SN7 Specification is identical to GE 6SN7 and RCA 5692

6SL7 Specification is identical to GE/Sylvania/RCA/Kenrad 6SL7

I have not tried them yet, but I plan to get a pair of the 6SN7's, since I have been impressed with the Sophia Princess 274b.
