Doesn't everybody take their cans apart as soon as they get them?

Just between us, I did, but not to that point on the pictures, I respected the foam, just for curiosity you know.....

Just a question mine has some kind of cloth covering the foam on the driver, like the grill used in speakers, I didin't see it in yours, do they have it? I do agree that you better have to send them to Sony for check out and replacement of all this foams and pads, anyway you only do that once in a while.....and 61 is not that much, consider that senns charge 30 for theirs (HD600) plus shipping, and the headphones are less expensive, and the pads last a lot less.....

Looking carefully, I now see that it is grill cloth that cover the drivers-foam. I sharpened the images in p-shop, so the cloth for some reason looks more like foam in the pictures.

You know, if you take the earpads off and then listen, the sound is still very good! Grado-like without the harshness. More comfy than Grados too!

I might be on to something!

Oh Yeah, I e-mailed Kohn at Audio Cubes about earpads; he's going to check with Sony about their availability.

I received this from AudioCubes today:

"I was just notified that we can get the earpads for $39 + $10 shipping. We
don't have these in stock yet but should have them in a few days once the
first order is placed. I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have
any other questions or comments. Thank you."

I'll order a pair today or tomorrow. Hopefully others will do the same!

Thanks God!!! Now we have a place where we can get some hard to find parts...

That's a relief! I've always been afraid of ripping my pads with my reading glasses. Thanks for the info.

My earpad order to Audio Cubes was processed on Friday, and on Sunday (today) my order shipped. I should receive the pads by the middle, or end, of the week. I'll post photos when they arrive.

I replaced my R10's pads: 5 minutes of work, no any problem... perfect. I did not needed to open the cans.

The only problem for the R10 is that a pair of replacement costs 255$ plus shipping (Audiocubes)...

Hello,

The CD3000 earpads slip on and off quite easily. I took the CD3000 apart as a request.

Thanks
